Notre maison

Our principal home is in a leafy suburb to the south west of Edinburgh built with style in the 1930's. Lots of parking space, and buses to the city centre 50m away. The spacious and mature garden includes three ponds the largest overlooked by a gorgeous summer house and BBQ area.

The main bedroom suite is on the ground floor with French doors to a sunny breakfast patio area. Our new and exceptional kitchen opens to the breakfast patio and through French doors into a stunning dining hall (seating 10 in great comfort) with glass wall opening to the front garden patio. Our formal lounge and separate 'snug' are both of 30m2 (330sq ft) and have large antique style gas fires, both rooms adjoin a small sun room. There is a well equipped utility and separate toilet.

Upstairs are 3 further bedrooms & two bathrooms (1 en-suite). Antique and nice quality contemporary furnishings and decor, together with comfortable seating and unusual use of timber beams in the modern extension give a wonderful 'wow' factor.

  1. Gail and Robin have a holiday lodge and caravan business in South West Scotland, where we have a further rural property close to the beautiful seaside village of Kippford, (also available for exchange).

    We enjoy country and city life, travelling regularly but always to unusually pretty and impressive locations and properties. We are keen to visit areas where local people have retained something of the charm of an earlier era in their communities. We can help to provide good contacts for our guests, whether a city guide, where to eat, shop, go for sports, culture, church, etc.

    We do not have to do a 'same date' exchange.

We are at the north side of the village of Colinton, a beautiful suburb at the South West edge of Edinburgh. Just a 400m walk away is the very pretty valley of the 'Water of Leith', Edinburgh's principle river which offers beautiful walks up into the hills above the City or right through the heart of it all the way to the famous Port of Leith.

In the small village of Colinton are 2 good pubs, a mini-market and good fruit & veg shop, two nice restaurants, a pizzeria, and a selection of churches.

Less than 5 minutes to the city bypass with easy links to the 'Firth of Forth' (20 minutes) at the ancient historic town of Queensferry with its famous bridges. Just one and a half hours to St Andrews and the golf, as well as the heart of beautiful Perthshire.
