Notre maison

Our home is a 1920's semi detached 4 bedroom house with many period features and has recently undergone an extension and renovation. On the ground level there is a large, bay-windowed lounge with wood burning stove, a cosy family room/den (with TV/DVD/PS4) which has a Murphy bed and ensuite shower room, a large fully fitted kitchen with dining area (seats 8) and a separate dining room (seats 8). Upstairs there are four bedrooms; 1 king bed with ensuite, 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bed high sleeper. There is a family bath/shower room and also a cloakroom toilet. Travel cot and high chair can be arranged. The house has wireless internet.

We have a large, private, mature garden with outdoor dining table and sofa, football goals, bikes and an outdoor playhouse. There is a driveway for parking and ample on street free parking.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a family of 5. My husband works in finance and I am a part time secondary school teacher. We have 3 children, aged 15, 12 and 6. Our children all love sport, reading, music and we all enjoy travelling and skiing. Whilst my husband can mostly work remotely and is able to be flexible with his holidays, the rest of us are tied to Scottish school terms although we are open to any offers!
We had a first swap Christmas 2014 to Chamonix and loved the whole experience. Looking forward to our next swap.

Our home is on a quiet street in the leafy village of Colinton, in the south west of Edinburgh. Colinton has small speciality shops, restaurants, a coffee shop, a library and play parks and is only a 30 minute bus journey into the centre of Edinburgh. We are a short walk to the foot of the Pentland hills, offering hill walking, fishing and mountain biking and 5 minutes from the beautiful walks along the Water of Leith. Hillend, Europe's longest dry ski slope is a 5 minute drive. It is a 5mins drive to local swimming pool and a 20 min drive to Edinburgh International Climbing Arena.

Edinburgh boasts a high number of attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyrood house, Edinburgh Botanical Gardens, Edinburgh Zoo and hosts major festivals including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (summer), Edinburgh Science Festival (Easter), Edinburgh Jazz and Blues festival(summer), Edinburgh Film festival(summer), Edinburgh's military Tattoo (summer) which along with the 'mid-winter festival and Edinburgh's New Year/Hogmanay celebrations attracts many of the world's most renowned performers.
A 30 minute drive along the East Lothian coast takes you to many famous golf courses including the British Open venue at Muirfield, Gullane (host to the 2013 British Open Golf Championship) and it's qualifying courses at North Berwick and Dunbar. An hour's drive north is St Andrew's, the home of golf. Further afield are the Scottish highlands and islands home to spectacular scenery and history.

The city bypass is less than 5 minutes drive, with all the major routes from and to the rest of Scotland into the capital. Edinburgh International Airport, served by most of the major carriers, is a 10km drive away.
