Notre maison

Our home is a light and airy, comfortable, detached family house. It has wooden flooring in most rooms, only the staircase is carpeted. It is a child and dog friendly house. Upstairs we have 3 double bedrooms, and the master bedroom has an en-suite shower room/WC. The main bathroom has a bath with shower over and WC. Downstairs there is a lounge with a fireplace, dining room, kitchen and downstairs WC. Outside is an enclosed rear garden with a large patio and 100m2 lawn. There is a garage, small front garden and parking for 2 cars. The house is in a quiet cul-de-sac with friendly neighbours. The River Windrush runs through our village, and our house is two hundred yards away from a public green where children like to play in the river in the summer.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Stephen and Maria, and we have 2 children - a son of 8 years old and a 5 year old daughter. We also have two Labrador Retriever dogs. Maria and I work as engineering designers. We like to take our 2 dogs on holiday with us - they have been to Wales, France and Spain and on a Home Exchange to the Netherlands in 2009 and 2011. So any destinations where we can travel by car, we will take them, so they would need to be welcome in your home. They are fully house trained and well behaved. We do not like smelly dogs, so they have a bath every one or two weeks. If you wish to bring your dog to our house, you are most welcome. All we ask is they are kept downstairs, and off the furniture, and naturally we will respect your dog rules. I am allergic to cats - so we cannot exchange homes with cat owners, sorry. We have also have a friendly outdoor rabbit, who is easy to care for, just food and water. We would appreciate you looking after her.

We can lend you a Fiat 500 (subject to insurance) if you prefer
    to fly.

We are open to exchanges in Derbyshire/Peak District or other UK locations in any school holidays.

We have arranged a summer holiday in August 2014 so we are not seeking an exchange then.

Quartier

Ducklington is one of the first Saxon parishes to be recorded in Oxfordshire. Our quiet village has old houses, a pretty duck pond, 12th century church and two friendly pubs. The nearby town of Witney has some good shops, and has an attractive church and a large church green. There are good road and public transport links to Oxford, and onto London. We frequently visit London, it is only about 60 miles/100km away. It is also quite easy to get to Bath. Worthwhile places to visit in this area are the Cotswolds www.oxfordshirecotswolds.org , Blenheim Palace www.blenheimpalace.com , Oxford and Cheltenham. There are lots of nice countryside walks nearby. For children there is a parkland zoo nearby www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk . Oxford has an interesting covered market, good places to eat, historic buildings and museums. You can visit the ancient colleges, go punting on the Thames and attend choral evensong in college chapels. For steam train enthusiasts, there is a working railway in the Cotswolds, www.gwsr.com that is a fun day out.
