Notre maison

Our home is a modern, light-filled 4 bedroom semi-detached house which we've recently extended and decorated. The cozy lounge has two large sofas (perfect for sinking into and dozing), while the ajoining dining area, with its large beech dining table, looks out onto the patio and garden, filled with flowers in the summer and, just recently, a large trampoline!
The main bedroom has a king-size bed, while the other 3 have a single bed each. There is also a pull-out bed in one. One of the lounge sofas turns into a double bed. There is also a study with desk/two computers and a modern piano. We've just renovated the bathrooms, each with showers and one with a bath which Caroline loves to soak in surrounded by fragrant candles. (I do too, but don't tell anyone!) Our home reflects our interests, with books, plants, pictures and, with 2 boys, footballs!
From our windows you can look 2-3 miles across to hills with green fields..

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Caroline is an ex-speech therapist and now works as a professional gardener and gardening therapist while Mark is a primary school teacher (though I've also taught in higher education and worked with youth too). Our two boys, (15 and 10 years old) love sport, reading and having adventures, and are very calm and well behaved. (Well, we would say that, wouldn't we!)Our daughter is 6 and also loves walking and doing craft. We have a young cat who is VERY easy to look after (though we can get a neighbour to look after it if you prefer). We love looking after other people's pets.
We've lived overseas in South America & S.E. Asia for 8 years doing community development and this has given all of us a real love for exploring new places and cultures.
We have done many house swaps both in the UK - as well as in mainland Europe.
We're now looking to exchange during the school holidays in 2012.

While our home is on a pleasant, modern estate, the centre of the town is an old village with an ancient church and many buildings over 300 years old. Just 3 minutes walk from our house is a golf course and woodland walks with beautiful views.
The greatest asset however is the famous Peak District National Park which is only 15 minutes drive away. world class walking, quaint country pubs and great National Trust houses to visit. See and also
World famous places such as Chatsworth House, Bakewell (with the famous puddings) and the plague village of Eyam are only 30 minutes away.
We're just an hour from Manchester, Leeds and York, while Sheffield and Chesterfield (both 5 miles away) offer museums, parks and all city amenities. Meadowhall Shopping Centre is only 25 minutes away.
