Notre maison

Our house is a stylish, 3 storey townhouse in an historic English city. It has a traditional exterior and a comfortable, contemporary interior. Enter, up steps, to a spacious hall with a cloakroom and stairs leading to the living accommodation. At the rear of the hall there is a study, plus a utility room with washing machine, that both open out onto the small walled garden. This is set out as a knot garden with low hedges and planters and it provides an outdoor seating area. On the first level is a lounge/dining room with a spectacular view over a lovely park, that surrounds a tower built in 1320. A separate well equipped kitchen runs along the back of the house. On the top floor there are 3 bedrooms. The master has a double bed and there is an ensuite shower room. The two further bedrooms are singles and all have built in wardrobes. This floor also houses the family bathroom.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are John and Eileen, both in our 60’s, both professionals and we retired a few years ago. Before retirement we bought land in Spain, complete with almond and olive trees and we built a farmhouse there. Since retiring most of our time has been taken up travelling between our two homes and enjoying time with our friends in both places. We have three grown up children and a delightful granddaughter who is 7. We enjoy travel and meeting new people. We enjoy walking, reading and photography. Be assured that we would take good care of your home as we hope you would of ours.

Our house offers the best of both worlds, as it is set in a quiet part of the City but it is within easy walking distance of all that is on offer. Forget driving, you do not need a car! Chester is one of the few remaining cities to have its City walls intact and it is possible to walk the entire circuit taking in the wonderful views of the buildings, canals and the river that make up this enchanting place. History abounds, for example, on the doorstep is the first racecourse in England where horse racing began in 1539. Try a meal in the 1539 restaurant there and enjoy the great food and the terrific view. This is one of many dining establishments nearby that offer fine dining. The city also boasts quirky venues or meals on canal boats. Guided tours offer a detailed understanding of the city’s past, from its Roman remains and gardens, its amazing cathedral and ancient churches and its role in the English Civil War. The beautiful Grosvenor Park and the lovely walks through the groves by the River Dee offer the visitor further enjoyment. Take a river cruise or walk along the canal bank to sample the fayre at a traditional English pub. if you wish to explore a little further afield you can visit Chester Zoo and the Waterways Museum, enjoy a day of astronomy at Jodrell Bank, and take the train to visit the Playhouse Theatre, the Philharmonic Hall for music and the Tate Northern for art exhibits in Liverpool. Take a busy bus tour to visit a stately home or two before stopping for afternoon tea in a Cheshire village. Take the bus along the coast to Wirral and explore its little villages and golden beaches. Chester is on the border of England and Wales with Snowdonia National Park close by. The Lake District, with its stunning scenery, is a couple of hours drive away and London a mere 2 hours or so by high speed train.
