Notre maison

Our home is an End of Terrace (the end of a row of 4 adjoining houses) house built in 1895. It is on a short, quiet street near a lovely small park. The house is on three floors, including a light-filled attic conversion on the top floor. There is a small, quaint back garden that has a park bench as well as a picnic table and barbecue. On the ground floor is a comfortable sitting/dining room and a kitchen with two French doors that open out onto the garden. Upstairs is the main bedroom, a separate office/study, and the bathroom. On the top floor is the attic conversion bedroom.

Subject to prior arrangement, an exchange can include our Volkswagen beetle as well as our studio apartment in central Paris, exactly 4 hours by train from our house in Cambridge. Here are details of our apartment in the beautiful 3rd arrondissement of Paris:

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Bruce and Bill, both 60, both Americans who have lived in Cambridge for 12 years. Bruce is an administrator for the University of Cambridge and Bill is a Reader of French Literature and a fellow of King's College. Having moved to Cambridge from Hawaii, we sometimes miss the sun and heat, so will be looking initially to stay somewhere near a beach, if possible for an exchange in August-September 2012.

We are looking to exchange 3 - 4 weeks mid-August to mid-September 2012 with a place somewhere in the Greek Islands, southern France (including Corsica), Portugal (Algarve), Italy, Spain (Mallorca or Menorca), but also might be swayed by anywhere in the sun near a beach on a lake or on the sea.

We are located in central Cambridge, about a fifteen-minute walk from the historic centre of this ancient university town. There are restaurants, museums, nightclubs, public swimming pools and gyms, the largest art movie house in Europe, a theatre for live performance and other concert venues, beautiful parks and gardens, as well as the river Cam, for punting and picnicking, only a short walk away. In summer there is the Cambridge Music Festival as well as the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival with professional acting troops performing in the formal gardens of some of the colleges. It is the perfect base to go further afield and explore East Anglia, north to the beautiful Norfolk Coast, or east to nearby Ely with its mammoth medieval cathedral known as the 'Ship of the Fens.'
