Notre maison

We have lived here for over a decade and have created a comfortable welcoming and unusual home. The 25ft living/dining room has comfy sofas and chairs and a traditional cast iron fireplace and TV at one end and a large solid oak table which seats 8+ at the other end. The well equipped kitchen leads into a stunning light airy conservatory that has underfloor heating. There is another reception room with a piano, computer, fireplace and comfortable chairs. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms and a further room with a balcony that is currently used as a studio. The bathroom has a walk in shower, toilet and bath. There is a shower room with toilet downstairs. French doors lead out onto the patio from both the kitchen and the conservatory. Steps lead up to the garden. This is small but sunny and stylish with a lawn, flower beds and a spectacular italianate back wall.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are both retired teachers in our 60s and spent much of our working lives helping children with learning difficulties. We met comparatively recently and have been very happy second time rounders! Between us, we have 5 daughters and seven grandchildren. Now that they have all left home we have the opportunity to be more adventurous and would like to spend time in other countries and warmer climates. Home exchange seems an ideal way for us to do this.
Roger studied in Italy for a year in 1970 and has longings to revisit old haunts and I studied painting at Brighton Art College in the early 70s so drawing and painting would be a feature of our travels. Now that we are retired I am able to spend more time painting and practicing yoga and Roger has taken up the piano. We enjoy walking our dog and cycling in the nearby countryside, visiting galleries and the theatre in London and spending time with our grandchildren.

We live in the Fiveways area of Brighton which is about 2 miles north of the sea. There are frequent buses into the city centre with all it's attractions and equally, the beautiful Sussex Downs are a short distance away. Fiveways has a village atmosphere and a sense of community with its range of shops, cafés, and a cooperative supermarket.
Brighton itself has a rich history and a lively reputation for tolerance and seaside fun. It has much to offer visitors of all ages: historical buildings and gardens, wonderful shops, theatres, cinema and nightlife- bars, pubs and clubs many with live music; and of course the beach, seafront and Brighton Marina.
London is under an hour away with frequent trains to London Bridge and Victoria. Many other places of interest are easily accessible from here.
