Notre maison

New Wood Farm is an old English Farmhouse over 200 years old. The Barn was completely renovated about 15 years ago to make an open plan dwelling with a spiral staircase to a mezzanine with a double bed and a separate bathroom. Downstairs has a fitted kitchen and comfortable living space with 2 settees and a colour TV.
On ground floor level there is a twin bedroom with 2 single beds and a bathroom. The Barn also has a washing machine.
And that's not forgetting a free to play Wurlitzer Juke Box with some great golden oldies including Elvis, The Beatles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frank Sinatra and for the very energetic - Chubby Checker.
It's right next to our house and I like to think that I'm a good neighbor, so if anyone needs any advice with getting around or just a cup of sugar I'm there. However,as it's completely separate from our house I sometimes see people only when arriving and leaving.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Linda and Mick, married for over 40 years and all kids fled the nest, but then come back to live locally. We bought New Wood Farm 30 years ago and did a complete renovation, brick by brick. In between all that building, painting and making endless cups of tea we managed to raise our family and do a fair bit of travelling which we love. We did a vacation home exchange a couple of years ago for Hilton Head in South Carolina which was wonderful and we would really like to do this again in the States.
We have visited Florida, Virginia, Delaware, New York and Boston areas in the past and all have been wonderful trips. We are looking for a restful kind of vacation swap. Our night club days have changed to antique auctions and fairs, always looking for the unusual.

The Barn is on the edge of The Black Country and actually comes under the parish of Kinver. Although close to all the amenities like buses and trains we are surrounded by open countryside. Stourbridge is the centre for British Glass and there are some wonderful museums just within walking distance. An old Roman path runs alongside the house leading down to the canal and New Wood, which in the spring is filled with bluebells. The canal system stretches for miles and as winter turns into spring it is lovely to see the painted canal barges travelling to and fro. Here it is not cosmopolitan like so many Cities and The Black Country is known for it's warmth and character,a taste of real England. The advantage also is that being central to the UK nowhere is too far away and many places can be visited in a day. Trains from Stourbridge link up to just about everywhere and there is a direct line to London with trains several times a day.
