Notre maison

We bought our home in late 2011 at which time it was a small three bedroomed bungalow. Nearly two years on, it is a beautiful, comfortable and large four bedroomed bungalow with a separate study. It has been a labour of love and is our last home but having finished it completely, we are now ready to return to our love of travel.
The centre point of our home is a large and airy kitchen with a breakfast bar that seats four and a separate seating area in front of the retracting doors to an outside courtyard area. The kitchen has been fitted out with all new appliances and is a joy to cook and live in.
There is a large lounge and dining area and whilst the house has four bedrooms, an additional study (two studies in total) has been created from the smallest bedroom. The remaining three bedrooms are all double and two of them have individual en-suite bathrooms. The third bedroom is opposite the house bathroom.
There is also an additional toilet which is situated off the kitchen and utility room.
Outside the house is surrounded by large gardens and we love to spend time here. The kitchen opens up to a lovely courtyard area with seating and we have really enjoyed using this area during our beautiful 2013 summer. There is an additional patio with table and chairs for six people which we use for BBQ. You have the use of a large Aussie Outback BBQ.
There is lots of space around our home and the back of the house has the beauty of being South facing and therefore catching the sun from early morning to late evening.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Alistair (60) and Linda (64) and are both retired. I spent my whole working life in banking and Linda worked in Human Resources for a manufacturing company. We have two children, Sarah 35 and Richard 33. Sarah lives locally and Richard lives in London and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first grandchild in December 2013.
We have travelled extensively although have never previously done a home swap. However, both my two older brothers have completed several and without exception these have proved to be great experiences. We are happy to exchange cars as well as houses and would really enjoy getting to know our fellow exchangers before the exchange takes place. We can recommend so many things to see and to do and feel very confident that our visitors will have a wonderful stay.

Localisation

Quartier

We have lived in the village of Eldwick since 1983 – clearly we love it – and the village was featured in the Doomsday Book. It is the perfect location for anyone wanting to see as much of the UK as they can because we are so centrally located. We are surrounded by beautiful country just five minutes from our front door. We are 20 minutes from the Yorkshire Dales, 60 minutes from the Lake District and less than 60 minutes from the historic city of York. Just on our doorstep is the village of Haworth, the birthplace of the Bronte sisters and Saltaire, a World Heritage site. London is a 2 hour 15 minute train ride away – Edinburgh is the same distance and there is a fantastic half hourly train service to both cities. We are 20 minutes from Leeds Bradford International airport if you wanted to make a quick visit to Paris, Rome or Barcelona. The airport is well served by many low cost airlines. Yorkshire does of course host the Grand Depart of the 2014 Tour de France and it will pass twice within ten minutes of our home.
There are lots of local supermarkets and traditional shops as well as good local pubs which serve great food and great beer. There are also award winning restaurants if you wish to enjoy a special treat.
