Notre maison

“Heatherbank” is a 4 bedroomed house nestled in a half-acre plot, having a lovely garden with lawns and colourful plants and bushes. It has a south facing garden which has the sun from dawn to dusk and sits in a small cul-de-sac allowing peace and quiet. It is situated 1.5Km from the quaint market town of Ringwood, which has restaurants, inns and coffee houses and a beautiful 14thC church lying beside the River Avon, where fishing is allowed with a permit. The Castlemain trailway is just a few hundred Kms away and allows easy walking access to both Ringwood and Moors Valley Country Park, one of the top visitor attractions in southern England (www.moorsvalleycountrypark.co.uk), which supports an 18-hole golf course, a “Go-Ape” adventure course as well as children's play parks, a small steam railway and a large lake and walking trails.

The county of Dorset lies south-west of London, which is accessible from Ringwood by coach every hour or by train from Bournemouth. Dorset is full of picturesque villages with immaculate thatched cottages and picture-postcard pubs and of course the hundreds of acres of the New Forest, Henry VIII's hunting area, which has deers, donkeys and cattle, all of which roam free. Dorset also has a wonderful coastline, not to be missed, along the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site. Ringwood itself, with its weedly Wednesday market, is an ideal location for visiting historic places such as Salisbury, Portsmouth and the seaside resort of Bournemouth.

Twenty minutes by car takes you to vibrant Bournemouth which has two theatres, a large shopping centre and a long sandy blue flag beach. The town of Poole, with its working quay and its natural harbour, lies next to Bournemouth, whilst a small chain ferry takes you across to Studland with access to the 11thC Corfe Castle and the pretty town of Swanage.

Thirty minutes from Ringwood is the historic city of Salisbury. A twice weekly market and centuries old pubs encompass the 14C cathedral with the tallest spire in Britain and housing an original copy of the Magna Carta signed by King John in the 13C.

Thirty minutes in the opposite direction is Southampton, with its large cruise ship terminal and a very large shopping centre. Fifteen minutes east of here is the historic city of Portsmouth with its naval dockyard. Here visitors can explore Lord Nelson's, HMS Victory, Henry VIII's flagship “Mary Rose”,which was raised from the sea-bed some twenty years ago with the help of Prince Charles, and. Both unmissable sights if you like maritime history.
