Notre maison

Rob and Marilynne Farren-Handford have created a beautiful rural home in the middle of a country village in KwaZulu Natal. The home is thatched, with some unusual features, such as a rock swimming pool, pizza oven, walk in pantry and the feel of being in a game reserve when sitting in the garden. All the rooms are shower en suite and the home overlooks the local country club, which is serviced by a gate directly onto the the golf course, and just 200m away from the house. All the rooms have single beds, which can be converted into king size beds when pushed together. The house lends itself to entertaining, and has a large outside area called a lapha, where there is an outdoor kitchen, pizza oven and barbecue. There are numerous sightseeing and holiday attractions in the area, most of which are just 50km away. These include Hluhluwe/Umfolozi game reserve, St. Lucia wetland park, a traditional Zulu village, Richards Bay harbour and many more.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a a fifty-something couple who made our home in Kwambonambi some 16 years ago. Our home is our dream home and we love it. We have been married for only 18 years and Rob has a son by his first marriage, Matthew. Rob is a Marine Surveyor in the Richards Bay harbour and Marilynne is a bookkeeper in our business. We have owned our own business for 13 years. We have lots of family who live in the Uk and Holland, and we like to visit them, hence our interest in this website.

Kwambonambi is a typical Zululand village, with a Spar supermarket in the main street, a garage, a country club and two churches (United - Anglican) and Catholic. There are approximately 600 people who live in the main village and it is a close knit community. We are 25km from Richards Bay, a large strategic port in South Africa, from where millions of tons of coal are exported yearly. There are movie houses, large shops and restaurants there, and it is easy to visit the town from here.
