Notre maison

Our home is very luxurious, very comfortable, and has wonderful sea views across False Bay to the Hottentot's Holland mountains. We back onto the Cape National Park, and are surrounded by local Fynbos. Although we are on a steep slope, we do have a funicular between the garage and both levels of the house, so access could not be easier!
The large lounge and dining room are open plan with a new, beautiful kitchen that has all modern appliances. The lounge has large sliding doors and can be opened up with the deck. The deck has a serving island for entertaining. From our deck we often see dolphins, orcas and the occasional Bryde's whale, and between June and November, Southern Right whales.
There is a gas barbecue. We have three bedrooms, four bathrooms and a guest loo. There is a TV lounge with large TV, Blu-Ray player and DSTV Premium. All rooms have a sea view, except the TV lounge, which looks up at the mountain.
Our housekeeper, Maria Ntoagae, has her own apartment and will service the house and do your laundry so that you can enjoy a relaxed stay.

We have a full rainwater harvesting system, with purification plant, reticulated to the house. We are therefore independent of the current Cape Town water crisis, although we would ask you to be careful of water usage.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a professional couple who are empty-nesters. We love to travel and since we have a daughter in the UK and a son in Houston, Tx, we enjoy visiting them and using these visits to travel in the British Isles and Europe, as well as in the United States. We have done ten exchanges thus far, in France, England and Scotland, Colorado Springs and Whidby Island. These have been very successful and we have made wonderful long term friends through home exchange.

We have experienced other homes, lifestyles and countries in a way that would not be possible by staing in hotels or commercial accommodation. We are still running our own business, but are able to get away reasonably often. We are flexible as to dates, because of having two homes. We will probably only be two people at a time but I have nominated a party of 4 - just in case our son and daughter-in-law (aged 34 and 32) or our daughter (32) can find time to join us.

  2. Russell is an engineer with Master of Business degree, and Chairman of an engineering company. He loves history, especially military history, cars and rugby.
Barbara is a retired Financial Director whose hobby is sketching and travel and also wildlife and birding (in an amateur sort of way!).

  3. We enjoy history, learning new cultures, exploring nature, and meeting people.

Localisation

Quartier

We are in a quiet area with great neighbours. We're close to a golf course, to Boulders Beach (the colony of Jackass penguins), Seaforth beach and the lovely and historical village of Simon's Town. There are excellent shops, a good supermarket and Food market within a 10 minute drive. During the months between about July and November, Southern Right whales are seen often, right close by our little local beach (Froggy Pond), and we often see dolphins and sometimes Orca's. There is a train service from Simon's Town to Cape Town and other suburbs, and this is an inexpensive way to do day trips without the hassle of finding parking. It is a short train ride to beaches at Glencairn, Fish Hoek and Muizenberg, or to the pretty fishing harbour, shops and restaurants at Kalk Bay. Locally you can hire kayaks or go on boat trips such a pelagic birding trips, shark and whale spotting trips and so on.
The peninsula abounds with things to do from surfing, golfing and hiking to shopping in fascinating shops and markets, to birding, museums, art galleries, boating, theatre, concerts and more.
