Welcome to our piece of African paradise which is private and exclusive. It is a second home which we have had the privledge of owing for 13 years. The lodge is very spacious and comfortable, but not stuffy and pretentious, so that families can enjoy special times together, while relaxing in a home away from home. From the patio deck, lounge in the hot tub on the owner's private suite and view the plain, teaming with game or an African sunset, while sipping on on a glass one of South Africa's excellent wines.(More pictures of our home will follow).
As the climate is warm and dry all year round, we spend most of our days outdoors on one of the patios or around the bush pool, or at the dam listening to the birds, crickets, dung beetles or other bush creatures.
Our resident houseman, Clayton, who looks after the farm while we are Canada, ensures all your needs are taken care of. He performs all housekeeping duties, washing, making fires, games drives, etc. He is very knowledgeable of the bush, wildlife and birds. There is a wide range of abundant wildlife including most species of buck, giraffe, rhino, warthog, ostriches etc. We have a pair of secretary birds who comb the plain for that big snake to chew on, as well as a resident fish eagles at the dam.
We have spent many an evening having a sundowner with the rhino watching us from the lawns of the lodge.
On a chilly, but dry winter's evening, we move to the enclosed "boma" for a potjie ( casserole) cooked over the coals. A real South African tradition.
The farm is safe and fully secured with a 24/7 manned guard house at the entrance to the farm. We also have a ranger and staff who keep the farm running while we are in Canada. The farm is available year round as it is a second home.
Although in the bush, the farm is very accessible from Johannesburg International Airport along highways and tarred roads.
If you get tired of the seclusion of the bush, just pop over to the adjacent 5 star golf course and spa - Zebula Lodge for a round of golf or a treatment.
