Notre maison

Our home is situated in a small town in North Norway. The house is bright and spacious. There are three floors, but the ground floor is a seperate apartment that we have rented out (seperate entrance). On the first floor you will find the kitchen, bathroom, hallway, living room and dining area. The house was built in 2002 and is modern and practical. On the second floor there are three bedrooms, two of which have double beds. There is also a bathroom and a cosy living room on the second floor. The view from up here is absolutely spectacular - you can see the sea and the sharp jagged mountain tops that are so typical for Norway. In the small garden outside, there's a grill, a few chairs and a table, which is ideal for summer barbeques. We really enjoy living here, and we are sure that you will, too.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My name is Leila and I am a woman in my early fiftees. I work in a private health company in Finnsnes. My two travelling companions are my daughter Anneli, a young woman of 20 and her boyfriend for the last 3 years, André of 24. Anneli works in a kindergarden and André studies biology at the university. We all love travelling. Anneli and André have actually lived in China and speak some Chinese, which is partly why we'd prefer to travel to China.

We are adventurous and enjoy travelling, seeing new places, meeting new people, tasting new foods and experiencing other cultures. We have tried house exchange once before, with great success, and we are very optimistic for our second try. Don't hesitate to contact us! :-)

Localisation

Quartier

The nearest town, Finnsnes is within walking distance of the house. You can walk down there in 15-20 minutes. In the neighborhood, there are mostly children families living in large villas much like our own house. However, above the parking lot on the back side of the house, there's a forest leading all the way up to the mountains. So there are a bunch of hiking tracks easily accessible just minutes away from the front steps of the house.

Other than that, the city of Finnsnes offers bowling, shopping, dining and many other activities. The ferry leaves several times a day for Tromsø, "the Paris of the North", which only takes about an hour. Tromsø is a beautiful city with the famous Ishavs-cathedral, museums, and the mountain lift to mention a few things. We'd definitely recommend that you take a couple of days in Tromsø.

But besides what the norwegian city life has to offer, Senja, commonly known as the "adventure island" is only a few kilometers away. Senja is said to be a miniature Norway and features a unique nature and coastline, with deep, curving fjords and majestic mountains. People on Senja live in small villages of 200-500 people, and are usually very accommodating and welcoming. A day spent driving through the small fishing villages of Senja, meeting and mingling with the locals and trying out their speciality foods would certainly be worthwhile.

It's also possible to arrange for you to join local fishermen for an exciting and adventurous boat ride out into the beautiful fjords of Norway. Fishing possibilities are good, as there's the sea and also a river (Lakselv) brimming with salmon nearby.

Well, there's probably lots more. Here's a couple of links to pages about Senja and the area nearby. Unfortunately, they're in Norwegian, but there are a lot of great pictures there.
