This is the home of an artist. It is on two levels with the main house on the upper level. The home is open plan, north facing with all day sun and has generous eaves allowing sheltered outdoor living.
The lounge is approx. 60 sqm and heating is provided by a Scandinavian log fire. The home is situated on approx. 3800 sqm, is surrounded on 3 sides by native bush which provides excellent privacy. The birdlife is abundant and both dolphin and orca are regular visitors in the bay below.
The lower level contains a 70sqm, 2 bedroom apartment opening onto a 50 sqm. undercover verandah. It is accessible via stairs and has it's own separate entry. This apartment is available for non-simultaneous exchanges. There is off-street parking. This is a NON-SMOKING property and is NOT SUITABLE for children or pets. Car exchange by mutual agreement.
We are an active retired couple --- she, a long established artist, and he, a retired "Kiwi" draughtsman. We have enjoyed previous home exchanges in Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich and Sydney and are careful owners who would treat any home as if it were ours. Both German and English is spoken.
This property is approx. 60kms due east of Auckland -- by road it is approx. 180kms. There is also a ferry service between Auckland and Coromandel with a seasonal timetable. This home is some 45 mtrs above sealevel with no road beneath and is 3.5kms (5 min) drive from Coromandel Town, an historical mining and fishing town, and home to many artists. Visit www.coromandeltown.co.nz for more information.
The home overlooks Long Bay which provides ideal swimming, fishing and kayaking opportunities. There are many bush walks nearby, a golf course and other sporting facilities. A small gauge railway (Driving Creek Railway) is a short drive away, and further afield there is the famous Hot Water Beach, easily reached on a day trip. The climate is Mediterranean and the property is frost free all year round.
