Home is in a nice garden area within 5 mins walking to essential amenities, shops, public transport, 1 hour train trip into our capital city, Wellington. It is close to lovely river and bush walks. Waikanae Beach is a 5 drive away, really lovely for that stroll or the fish and chip tea.
Myf. and John are a couple in our early 60's. Myf still works as a Food Tech teacher but is getting close to retirement.
Our interests include: Bridge, bowls, walking, biking, and we enjoy travelling - exploring new environs.
We have not done a house exchange before but heard about it from another couple who are seeing the world as a result.
Waikane is a small town on the beautiful Kapiti Coast, won the Top Town for NZ in 2010. Is a very friendly community offering a lot for those interested in sport, the outdoors, gardens, nature,..
The town is 1 hour's drive from Wellington city (or 1 hour on train - regular daily service), 1 and half hours drive from the wine growing area of Martinborough in the Wairarapa. This region is noted for its rugged coast, quaint towns with great cafes and shops as well as excellent wines.
From Wellington you can catch a ferry to the South Island, 3 hour trip for the day or a weekend in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds.
Waikanae is also a handy location for the trip North, to Taupo, Rotorua or Hawkes Bay for a few days away.
A very tranquil town to live in.
