Waikanae village has a great butcher
There is a market on a Saturday with good selection of locally grown vegetables, olive oils, honey, great baking, breads etc.
In Paraparaumu is the Fonterra cheese factory with discounted cheeses. Depends on what is available that day but usually a good selection.
Waikanae Crab fish shop is in Paraparaumu. They shell and freeze the caught Waikanae Crab it is delicious. The also catch fish, fillet at the shop and sell the day after they catch it. They also do their own smoked fish.
In Te Horo about a 10 minute drive north is Ruth Pretty's cooking school where she runs courses most weekends February to December. Need to book in advance. There is a kitchen shop with a great selection of kitchen supplies. Also you can have coffee and a piece of cake/slice/friand. www.ruthpretty.co.nz
