Notre maison

Our home is a very comfortable, warm, sunny 3 bedroom brick home on a flat 2000 sq m section. It has a large internal access garage which includes the washing machine, dryer and freezer.

The main bedroom has an ensuite with toilet, basin and shower, it has a sliding door that leads out onto the lawn. The large 2nd bedroom has a double bed and the 3rd bedroom has 2 single beds. The main bathroom has a separate shower and bath.

The lounge has a high ceiling with fan and is finished with native Rimu timber. There is a TV (local channels only), DVD/VCR player and a stereo. Off the lounge there is a terrace with awning.

The spacious kitchen has hob hotplates and a wall oven, plus microwave, large walk in pantry, coffee machine, dishwasher and fridge. The dining room has a Kent woodburning fire and table and chairs for 6.

The house is very private and has no neighbours on 2 sides. The views of the surrounding hills and paddocks give it a rural feel although you are only 3 mins drive from the centre of Waihi village.

You can sit on the terrace in the afternoon and pick your own lemon from our tree for your pre-dinner gin and tonic!

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Cushla, Patrick and baby daughter Amelia are sure you will love our house and have a wonderful holiday in this very special part of the world. As Cushla and Patrick are currently teaching at Qatar Academy in Doha, Qatar, they infrequently get back to their beautiful house in Waihi.

Cushla and Patrick being proud Kiwis, feel it would be selfish not to share this idyllic spot in Aotearoa (New Zealand) with like minded world citizens who know and appreciate peace and serenity when they see it. The Coromandel has been a summer playground for Kiwis for many years now and we hope this will provide you with the opportunity to experience it for yourselves.

Waihi village is a service centre for both the surrounding farms and the Martha goldmine (yields NZ$1m/wk of gold currently). If you get tired of the swimming pool at the house, Waihi Beach is 10 mins drive away. A long beach, there is usually good surf to be had. For boaties and fishermen the Athenree inner harbour is the place to launch boats. All manner of watersports are to be found including, waterskiing, surfing, swimming, bodyboarding etc.

There is plenty of hiking in the surrounding ranges, including the incredibly scenic Karangahake gorge - or you can take a train ride from Waihi to Waikino and take in some of the goldmining history of the area at the same time.

The Waihi Golf Club welcomes casual players at the course a short distance from the village. There are many cafes serving delicious cuisine at both Waihi and also at Waihi Beach. In summer many people come to the area to holiday from Auckland and the Waikato.

Waihi lies on the eastern foot of the Coromandel Peninsula. Whangamata, a popular summer holiday resort and surf spot is only 20mins drive away. Further north are the towns of Tairua and Whitianga. At Hot Water beach you can dig in the sand and have a dip in a hot pool and swim in the surf at the same time.

The stunning scenery of the Coromandel will blow you away. Waihi is only 45 mins drive from Tauranga, if you want a bigger centre to shop in and only 1 1/2 hrs drive from Auckland International Airport.
