Notre maison

Our new home to us home is 3 years old. It is modern, spacious and has all the mod cons. It's in a lovely quiet area with a low maintenance private garden. The home consists of 3 bedrooms, the 3rd one being used as our office, which does not have a bed. There is a separate laundry as also a separate toilet adjacent to the bathroom. There is a 2nd toilet in the master bedroom ensuite and a 3rd in the workshop. The home is double glazed throughout which, together with the large output log fire, ensures the home stays warm even on the coldest days.

Our home is not suitable for children.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Mo and Derek, a retired couple in our late 60's. We were self employed in the horticultural world for the last 20 years of our working lives. Our interests include walking, fishing (Derek in particular for trout and Mo 'keeping him company'),cycling and other outside pursuits. Now we have more time we want to travel and enjoy different countries and cultures while we can.

While leaving our destination options open we are always keen to exchange into Australia as there are so many parts we have still to see. We prefer periods up to two months but are open to other suggestions.

Exchanges within New Zealand are always welcomed at any time.

We are in a private and picturesque area, centrally located in the middle of the Noth Island at the southern end of Lake Taupo. The road we live in is actually just outside of Turangi with the mighty Tongariro River separating the road from the town. The walk to the town centre takes about 20 minutes or 5 minutes by car or 10 minutes by bike. The much larger town of Taupo at the Northern end of the Lake is approximately a 45 minute drive. Turangi township has most facilities including supermarkets, restaurants, pub and cafes. It also has 3 sports shops catering for all outdoor activities and in particular freshwater fishing.

Turangi is often referred to as the town for all seasons for no matter what outdoor activity, the seasons cater for those people who like the outdoors. Whether it be for swimming in the lake in summer, the base for hiking/tramping/walking such well known tracks as the Round the Mountain walk (4 days), the Tongariro Crossing or other shorter walks along the Tongariro River or for the main activities in Autumn through Spring for fishing and Winter/Spring for ski-ing. The Tongariro River is a world famous, fly fishing only, river for both rainbow and brown trout with fish of 3kg or more not uncommon. There are other well known fly fishing rivers flowing into Lake Taupo as well as the lake and other lakes in the immediate area. There are 3 ski fields on Mount Ruapehu approximately 45 minutes from Turangi.

For more entertainment, shops, banks and restaurants Taupo would be a place to visit and if you like Art Deco, Napier, to the East, would be a good place to visit - approximately 2 hours. Napier is in the Hawkes Bay region which is well known for its magnificent wines with many vineyards open to the public with fantastic food.

Lakeland Restaurant - right on the edge of Lake Taupo in a pristine unspoilt location.
