Notre maison

Our seaside cottage (called a "bach" here in New Zealand) is small, comfortable and funky. We have filled it with comfortable clean furniture, and bric-a-brac to give it a relaxed feel. It has a bedroom with double bed, and a bedroom with a double bunkbed (double with single on top) and another single bed - so it can sleep six, but is ideal for one or two couples, or a small family. It has a small kitchen, large deck with barbeque and outdoor furniture, laundry, and a nice bathroom. We have an outdoor shower and outdoor bath also- both very private and great for a bath under the stars, or a shower when back from a swim at the beach. Our bach is only 200 metres from Whangamata township, 250 metres to the large well stocked supermarket, 300 metres to the safe harbour, and 300 metres to the surf beach - all of the walking is on the flat. There's plenty of room to park cars on the property. The Bach is very quiet and private, even when Whangamata is full of people - (really only the summer holidays in December/January, and the annual "beach hop" Hot Rod and Rock and Roll Festival Weekend in April) It is our weekend retreat and we love it there.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Our family - Glenn (40 years) and Liz (35 years) and our two great kids Lauren (8 years) and David (7 years). We live about 1.5 Hours from Whangamata in Hamilton, and if we were around when you were here we would be happy to give you travelling tips or advice if you needed it. We want to expose our two children to as many different cultures and plenty of travelling, so we are open-minded as to any exchanges. As our Bach at Whangamata is our second home we are also able to consider non-simultaneous exchanges.

Localisation

Quartier

Whangamata has one of the best East Coast Surf beaches in New Zealand, and the town has a "surfie" vibe and feel to it. Locals are very friendly, and because it is so popular with people touring N.Z. the town has everything you may need. There are plenty of cool cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. Food here is great, with plenty of seafood, organic produce, and local produce. It is an ideal place to base yourself to explore the Coromandel Peninsula, which is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled regions of New Zealand, and one of the more popular regions for those looking to get out of the cities. The area is great for swimming, diving, surfing, boating and everything you can think of to do by the sea. As well as this, Whangamata and the Coromandel Peninsula are areas full of artists and organic farmers. Two good websites to have a look at: www.whangamatainfo.co.nz, and www.thecoromandel.com.
