Tauranga, which has a reputation for the best climate in NZ, is on the east coast of NZ 200 kms. south of Auckland. The renowned surf beach of Mt.Maunganui is a 10 minute drive and the thermal attractions and lakes of Rotorua a 1 hour drive away. Population 100,000. There are a number of golf courses and tennis courts handy and good fishing, hiking and walking all year round. Tauranga has many excellent cafes and restaurants and a thriving arts scene. It is a great base from which to explore New Zealand.
