Our home is ideally situated only 45 minutes south of Auckland, (see www.auckland.com) New Zealand’s largest city. Our comfortable home is in a quiet cul-de-sac in a friendly neighborhood in the rural town of Pukekohe.
Pukekohe, population 26,000, is perfectly located as a gateway and base for touring the rest of New Zealand being only 40 minutes away from Auckland international and domestic airport. No flight is more than 2 hours to any region of this unspoilt wonderful country. The township boasts an international car racing circuit as well as horse racing and trotting tracks. Pukekohe is the principle vegetable growing region of New Zealand with a strong colonial history. The New Zealand roads are uncongested apart from rush hour near the major cities. (bears no comparison with the 401!!) We are close to long haul coach/buses travelling all over the country.
Pukekohe has a train service in and out of the city and south to Wellington, the capital of new Zealand.. The main street of the town is 20 minutes walk from our house and the train station 25 minutes or a local bus will take you - four minutes into the town.

Pukekohe combines relaxed country living with city style – there are numerous cafes embracing the ‘coffee culture’ that is vibrant in New Zealand, restaurants and boutique style shops. A new department store (like ‘The Bay’) is opening in March. There is a newly built cinema. The thriving Art Centre, centrally located houses the library and also a gallery with regular exhibitions.
Most churches are represented. The supermarkets are less than a mile from our home. There are doctors and dentists in the town centre.
