3-bedroom, solid wooden house, with modern interior for comfortable, easy living.
Lots of windows and daylight all year round; with ‘French' doors opening onto a large deck that has two sheltered areas (west and north facing).
One tiled bathroom with shower over bath, and separate toilet room with a hand basin, close to all bedrooms.
Open dining and living area off the well-equipped kitchen - ceramic stovetop and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer.

Main bedroom: lots of wardrobe space and very comfortable queen-sized bed; quality cotton and organic bedding.
Second bedroom: wardrobe, 2 'king (large) single' size beds.
Third bedroom: One double folding futon bed, and shelves and a desk for office work.

Front-loading washing machine and drier in laundry downstairs, opening onto rear garden.
Electric heating, and wood-burner (enclosed fireplace) for the middle of winter.
Carport, option of car swap.
Fibre optic cable (fast and unlimited WiFi).
Smart TV with Netflix.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a couple with two adult sons and two young grandchildren.
Alec is semi-retired and works from home making sails for small boats and Mary is a retired journalist.
We have travelled to Egypt, the Middle East, Asia and South America, Australia and the US, a tiny bit in England, France and Spain. Now we have Europe in our sights for a long, slow look-around.
We are clean, tidy people who will look after your home and be grateful for the opportunity to stay there.

We love the water and nature/outdoors, but all human endeavour appeals too - the arts, engineering, etc.
We easily find ways to spend our time while travelling - walking, boating, studying history and talking to local people as much as we can.
In Europe Mary wants to practice her French and Spanish and visit local newspaper offices; Alec wants to go to a Formula 1 race (we both do!), and generally soak up all that is different from where we live (New Zealand). And enjoy galleries, archaeological sites, museums, food and wine, kayaking, etc

Localisation

Quartier

Handy to shops, public transport, airport, public swimming pool and parks (including Auckland’s biggest, Cornwall Park, or in Maori language, ‘Maungakiekie').
This character-filled, historic suburb of Onehunga features a mix of large old wooden houses, smaller wood and brick homes, and newer apartments. Originally founded around the Port of Onehunga, now defunct, the area has always been cosmopolitan and vibrant.
The first woman mayor in the British Empire , Elizabeth Yates, was Mayoress of Onehunga Borough in 1894; all women in New Zealand were the first in the world to be 'allowed' to vote in national Parliamentary elections - from 1893.

Location:
Located 10km (15 mins drive off-peak) from Auckland Airport (international and domestic); 20 min drive from the central business district or heart of Auckland City (theatres, casino, waterfront dining, ferries to Hauraki Gulf islands); 40 mins drive to multiple city beaches with white sand and safe swimming; 10 minutes walk to local supermarket/whole-food store/hairdresser/travel agent/medical clinics/etc, 3 mins walk to bus stop; 3 mins drive to Onehunga Train Station that goes to upmarket Newmarket shops and further on, downtown Auckland.

Head north to the Bay of Islands (4 hours drive) for the historic Waitangi settlement, game fishing, dolphin-watching, scenic boating and beaches; south-east to Coromandel Peninsula surf beaches, bush walks and peace (2 hours drive); south to Rotorua (3 hours) for geothermal attractions, picturesque lakes, trout fishing and Maori cultural centre, or to Matamata (2 hours) to get to Hobbiton “Lord of the Rings” attraction or to Mount Ruapheu for skiing and hiking (4.5 hours drive).
Major cities are linked by bus.

Hop on an Air New Zealand airplane to the quaint capital city of Wellington (1 hour flight); or to the pristine (cooler) South Island for beautiful lakes, rivers, mountains, fjords, snow, gold mining history and under-populated but sophisticated towns and villages (for example, 2 hour flight to Queenstown ski resort). Enjoy vineyards nationwide!
