Notre maison

We have a modern two storied beach house that is our semi- permanent residence. It is surrounded by decks on three sides maximising the view over the park and garden, and it is north-facing and therefore sunny. We live in a cul de sac opposite the boat ramp and the wharf in the harbour, and, a couple of hundred meters from the ocean beach, so it is quiet but very close to the water.
We have lovely neighbours who will be only too happy to share a glass of wine or some local knowledge with you. Matakana is our little local town with a weekly market and boutique shops and cafes as well as a very cute theatre with 3 small cinemas. ( great for a rainy day)
Omaha is 50 minutes from Auckland, 1 1/2 hours from Whangarei and 2 1/2 hours to the Bay of Islands
We have kayaks and bikes, golf clubs and paddle boards available. And a surfboard and older windsurfer !

  1. Cameron and I (Robyn) have been together for 16 years and between us have six children between 42 and 24 years old. We are 60/65years old We have moved permanently to Omaha. We are loving living at the Beach and every day is great one. We fish, kayak, bike, sail and swim.
    I am a physiotherapist and Cam a pharmacist (retired). We now have the opportunity to travel and would like to explore the world!! We have friends who have had fantastic experiences with house exchanges and we feel comfortable about leaving our home to swap with another. Our friends will also welcome you and maybe share a glass of wine with you.
    My two sons live and work in Christchurch. One an engineer and the other a builder.
    My daughter lives in Perth Australia and is married with 2 children. We do expect her to come back home at some stage.
    Cam has 3 daughters living in Australia and Auckland.
    Otherwise we will consider all possible swaps anywhere !!

  2. We love our wine and food and socialising.
    I play golf on my days off and. Cam has a team of retired locals building radio controlled boats in our garage and racing them on a local pond. He loves music and is very competent on the piano and with the bagpipes.

Omaha beach is a well known upmarket beach community one hour north of Auckland. It is a narrow spit with the harbour on one side, a sheltered coastal beach on the other and bird reserve at the North end
It is ideally located by the beautiful wine growing area of Matakana. Small boutique vineyards, cafes, restaurants and galleries are dotted around the area. The Marine reserve of Goat Island is 20 minutes away where you can swim with the fish or observe through a glass bottomed boat or kayak. Tawharanui regional park is bikeable and good hiking nearby.
A golf course is 500 m up the road.
The reknown Matakana markets are very popular on saturday morning. A good base from which to explore Northland NZ.
