“Our stay in Matakana, was wonderful, the area is full of scenic areas to visit, the amazing coast line, the rolling hills with sheep grazing, the wonderful parks, and the clean air. Matakana is well worth a visit, New Zealand is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is like a huge garden, the quality of food, and the excellent wines it produces. Barbara was a great host and very helpful with letting us know where to go and areas to see, her home is comfortable and clean, and has all that one needs to be comfortable. Everything is there in Matakana, places to eat, markets, coffee shops, wine stores, and just wonderful places to see, you can go to the coast and see in the harbor Dolphins playing, smell the sea air, eat wonderful fresh seafood, highly recommend a stay in this area of the North Island, and staying at Babara's home. A good base to explore the island. From Robert and Tong Tong, Shenzhen, China, stayed 2013”

I am a professional woman (Food, Ex Delicatessen owner, PR, Journalism, Communications, Event Management, Project Management).
I live in a most beautiful part of New Zealand (Matakana Coast Wine Country) and I wish to share this with visitors to this country.
I have lived overseas on and off for many years, have travelled widely, love cooking and exploring different cuisines and thoroughly enjoy meeting with people from other countries sharing ideas and information. At heart I am a 'woman of the world' but now I want to share my own beautiful country with all the opportunities we offer to visitors.
As Business Manager for the Developers of the Matakana Village, I set up the Matakana Village Farmers' Market and managed it for the first 3 years. (phone number hidden). I found local growers and managed the establishment and running of this very successful NZ Farmers' Market. I am still a stallholder 'The Matakana Bag Lady' selling wicker baskets, French Market Baskets, reusable bags and baskets. The philosophy is no plastic bags allowed. I also sell Market branded teatowels, aprons and a quality fabric bag. We reach our 10 year anniversary this year.
I have an adult daughter living in Toronto Canada and try every year to visit her for my annual holiday.
As well as cooking for my friends for dinners, my passions are reading (I belong to a book club and have an extensive library), movie going (Matakana has its own boutique movie theatres in the village), fishing, boating, snorkeling, walking, tramping and all the activities which are possible in Matakana area. Sadly I don't have a boat anymore but there are plenty around here who do and who will charter for visitors.
Because of my involvement in the development of this area I have a huge network of contacts and am known for my work in business and the community. I have managed and assisted in community fundraising and local events.
