En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Our names are Gerald (73) and Susan (68). We are fit, healthy, retired, adaptable Kiwis. We moved to Central Otago from Auckland in 2001 and this is our second home. At the same time Gerald transitioned from businessman to published author, photographer and historian as a retirement interest.

Susan is a career mother and grandmother who enjoys crafts, gardening and making quilts. We discovered home exchanging in 2008. Since then we have completed 11 very successful exchanges ranging from 10 days to 6 weeks in Manhattan, Las Vegas, Plymouth, Chicago, Amsterdam, Menorca, Berlin, Prague, Dublin, London and Brisbane.

  2. Lauder, where we live is a mecca for trout fishing. We are in easy reach of 130 fresh water rivers, streams, lakes and dams that contain both rainbow and brown trout. Several uncrowded local golf courses are a second delight.

Located in the lower half of the South Island in the Central Otago village of Lauder, directly opposite the 152 kilometre Otago Central Rail Trail which attracts cyclists and walkers from all over the world, We are 1.25 hours from Queenstown, the Gibbston Valley, Wanaka, Hawea, Twizel, Lawrence and 2 hours from Dunedin. Dozens of local vineyards are 30 minutes away, while Queenstown and Dunedin have international airports. Lakes Wakatipu, Wanaka, Hawea, Ohau, Pukaki, Benmore, Aviemore, Waitaki and Tekapo are 1.25 to 2 hours drive, as is Mount Cook National Park, Coronet Peak, the Remarkables, Cardrona, Treble Cone and Ohau ski-fields.

Cycle or hike the 100 kilometre Queenstown Trail or the 310 kilometre Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail.
