Our house is a typical what's called "Lifestyle Property" in New Zealand, which is a larger home on a larger piece of land, in a rural position, but still close to towns. It is one of 6 lifestyle properties in this area, and all of the houses have approx. 5,000 square metres of land, so it is very private, situated up a long driveway.
It has 4 double bedrooms (all with queen size and one king size beds). The master bedroom has an en-suite and separate toilet. Another bedroom has an en-suite and a walk-in wardrobe. There are two living areas which both have ranch slider doors leading to the big 100 square metre deck and big back garden. The house also has a double garage. The living/kitchen/dining area are open plan. Apart from the 2 en-suites there is also another bathroom and another separate toilet. There is also an office. We have a wood burner in the second living room which has a heat transfer system to the bedrooms. The living room and kitchen diner has Infrared Heating Panels on the ceiling. The house is sunny and warm.
There is a large swimming pool (8m x 4m), 2m deep in the middle, fully fenced. We also have a trampoline in the garden.
We are Peter and Wendy, a couple in our early 50s with 2 children (20 and 17). Peter is a bank manager and I run a typing business from home. Peter comes from a beef farm from Northland, I am originally from Austria (Kaernten) but have lived in NZ for 24 years. Every two years we travel to Austria with our children to spend time with our Austrian family. Peter likes road biking and we both have done a bit of Mountain biking. Both children live away from home for their schooling/University and so we would like to travel a bit more on our own.
The house is one of six lifestyle blocks in Scotsvale Drive. The neighbours are varied, ranging from a family with 2 young children to a couple of hobby farmers in their 60s, a family with older children and a family with no children. Everyone is very friendly. We have a particular good relationship with one of our neighbours on one side who are in our age group (over 50) with no children but 3 lovely little Papillon dogs. The area is very safe and private, yet it about equal distance to four towns, Hamilton (Hamilton Gardens, Art Galleries, Museum) Cambridge (Horse Country, Velodrom, Lake Karapiro), Matamata (Home of Hobbiton) and Morrinsville, all of which are easily accessible under 30min by car. Both the east coast beaches of the Bay of Plenty (Mount Maunganui, Tauranga etc) and west coast beaches (Raglan) area easily accessible in under an hour.
