Notre maison

We own a four bedroom villa in Northcote Point. It was built 100 years ago, which means it is a home with a lot of character. It has a high stud, sash windows, kauri native timber floorboards, 2 open fire places and a stained glass window. It has been renovated to include a modern, generously sized kitchen and lounge area. The bedrooms are off the large hallway. One room with a double bed, the second room has bunk beds, and the third a loft bed (which was difficult to photograph.) The fourth bedroom is my daughters. It is small, but the sun pours in. It over looks the park. We have one bathroom and a seperate TV room. The kitchen/dining area overlook our private backyard and nearby park. The photos were taken in the middle of our winter, so don't look the greatest, but in the summer it is lovely to open our bifold doors in the lounge to take in the view. Downstairs is the laundry and garage. Our property is completely fenced, which is great if you have younger children. We have a lovely, quiet park with a small playground two doors down. There is a spa pool in the garden.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Steve and I have 3 children. Alex is 12, Henry 10 and Helena 8. Alex is a keen cartoonist. Henry plays basketball, hockey and soccer. Helena loves ballet, gym and her friends. They are good kids. Steve is an engineer and I am a primary school teacher. We are both quite creative. Steve makes outdoor furniture and at the moment I am screen printing. Before having children Steve and I did the Kiwi thing and lived in London for 5 years. We loved traveling. I think it is the best education anyone can have and now would love to take my children further afield. We have been with the children to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and now I am keen to have a completely different travel experience and head to Europe. We have never registered on a home swap site, but it makes a lot of sense. We are very keen to organise something for December/January. We would take great care of your home.

Our house is situated in a quiet street, in a lovely historic neighborhood, close to all the attractions Auckland has to offer. Northcote Point has a real community feel. There is a very popular small local wine bar which is 2 minute walk from the house. The Bridgeway cinema, which shows great movies is a 5 minute walk away. Stop at a cafe' and then head down to Northcote Point wharf. You can catch a ferry to the city,or it is a 7 minute drive by car across the harbour bridge to a Suburb called Ponsonby. It is a great place to wander around and check out the latest fashion from New Zealand designers. There are fanastic bars, cafes and restaurants. Auckland is a city that has alot to offer. Places to visit would be the museum- full of fascinating pacific history, the botanical gardens, the art gallery, zoo and Kelly Tarlton's underground aquarium. Here you can share a pool with large stringrays and sharks. You can go sailing in the Hauraki harbour or hop on a ferry to Waiheke Island. Waiheke is only a 30 minute ferry ride from the city. The beaches are fantastic as are the local wines, olives and food. The more adventurous can bungy jump off the harbour bridge, go mountain biking or kitesurfing. An hours drive north takes you to Matakana with its vinyards, galleries and cafes. Well worth a visit.
