The kitchen and second bedroom look onto historic Piazza del Castello, the original centre of the town dating from the 12C. The 80 square meter apartment has two double bedrooms, kitchen, large lounge room, bathroom all on one floor. The apartment is accessed from a private entrance on the Piazza.

The apartment has been meticulously restored and maintained without compromising the important history of this 12-century house. En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a married couple in our 60's with children and grandchildren living in Hong Kong and UK, a great excuse to travel and house swap to enjoy our family and different cultures. We have travelled extensively over the years and always enjoy longer periods in different countries to absorb the total experience.

We have not swapped houses before however are keen to start.

We have some flexibility in house swap timing although Ralph is still working in our son's consulting business.

For the last ten years we have led guided and offered self guided walks based out of Radda in Chianti, San Gimignano and Montalcino. We have now retired from this business however we would be delighted if you enjoy walking to feel free to use any of our notes from the three locations.

We have walked our first canal in the UK, The Kennet and Avon and are keen to explore many more while our family are located in the UK.

Radda in Chianti is located roughly halfway between Florence and Siena in the beautiful hilly region of Chianti. The vineyards, olive groves and crops form magic precise patterns. Around this, nature escape’s into a wonderful jumble of chestnut and oak forests, herbs, wild flowers.

Radda is a warm, welcoming hilltown with a good balance of being attractive to day visitors and becoming a quiet rural town in the evenings. Its sunsets viewed from the medieval walls or our lounge room are spectacular. A perfect spot to return to after an excellent day of touring, wine tasting, walking or riding; relax with a glass of wine in Piazza S Ferrucci and savour village life.

The structure of Radda is still intact and remnants of the original castle and towers now houses, rise above the city walls. It grew elliptically around the church of San Nicolò and Palazzo Pretoria.

Radda has all the amenities you need for a relaxing holiday; an excellent Delicatessen Casa Porciatti, the iconic Enoteca Toscana, supermarket and fresh fish fruit and vegetable markets once a week. Restaurants range from casual to fine dining. The nearby village of Volpaia’s Bar and Restaurant attract visitors from all over Tuscany.

A local bus service runs daily to both Siena and Florence for day tripping except on Sunday. Siena is less than hour via Castellina and Florence is via Greve in 1.5 hours.

We can provide notes, maps and photographs for 6 self guided walks.
