Notre maison

Our house has been painstakingly restored and modernised, retaining its original character of an Italian farmhouse. It is set on a south facing slope with stunning views of the Abruzzo mountains. The property stands in 10 acres of land which include olive groves, fruit trees, fields, woodland, vegetable garden and formal flower garden. We are a 5 minute walk from the local village; surrounded by vineyards and numerous, excellent local restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias providing traditional Italian food. The ground floor has a large kitchen with vaulted ceiling and double doors leading to a south facing terrace overlooking the mountains. There is also a study/extra bedroom, living room and shower room. The ground floor has underfloor heating which is powered by a wood burning stove in the kitchen. The living room has a small wood burning stove.
The first floor of the house has 3 double bedrooms, one en-suite and a family bathroom. All bedrooms have balconies. There is also an extra kitchen which doubles as a utility room, and cantina (we have to store our olive oil somewhere!). This is our permanent home not a holiday home and therefore is well equipped and comfortable.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are ex teachers from England who moved to Italy to live when we retired. After 2 years renovating our house we have now started to cultivate and landscape the land around it. We inherited about 130 olive trees with the land and we work with our neighbours to harvest the oil each year. We also inherited 2 Italian dogs which are house trained but who live and sleep outside the house. They are called Emma and Henry, they are very well behaved, good guard dogs and only need to be fed and watered though they do appreciate love and affection and walks! The property reflects our interests of reading, cooking, gardening and woodwork. We also play golf and have enjoyed a new 9 hole course which has opened near to us.
One of our reasons for moving to Italy was to travel around Europe hence our interest in house exchanges. We are not restricted by work or school holidays but we have many friends and family who come to stay with us so would need to arrange dates well in advance.

Cugnoli is a small village with an historical centre, but also has all modern facilities including, baker, butcher, farmacy, doctor, post office, bank, 3 bars and supermarket. It is only a 10 minute drive to a large shopping centre, 25 minutes to the airport at Pescara and the nearest beaches. The Maiella and the Gran Sasso mountain ranges are within easy reach and provide opportunities for walking, climbing and skiing. The beaches are clean, sandy and the sea normally calm, ideal for children. We are 10 minutes from the motorway to Rome, the car journey takes about 2 hours. There is also an excellent bus service to Rome and both airports.
There are interesting towns and villages to visit locally, many of which hold historical pageants and 'sagras' during the summer and autumn. These celebrate with local food and wine, live music and fireworks. The area is famous for its red wine, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and you can sample the wines at the many cantinas which surround us.
