Quartier

Bologna is one of the most important cultural and artistic centre in Italy. Its importance in terms of landmarks can be attributed to homogenous mixture of monuments and architectural examples (medieval towers, antique buildings, churches, the layout of its historical centre) as well as works of art which are the result of a first class architectural and artistic history. Over the centuries, Bologna has acquired many nicknames: "the learned one" (la dotta) is a reference to its university; "the fat one" (la grassa) refers to its cuisine. "The red one" (la rossa) originally refers to the colour of the roofs in the historic centre, but this nickname is also connected to the political situation in the city, started after World War II: until the election of a centre-right mayor in 1999, the city was renowned as a bastion of socialism and communism in particular the Italian Communist Party.
The apartment is in the centre of the city, in the neighbourhood of Costa-Saragozza, surrounded by early '900 art-nouveau villas and just 10 minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore: the medieval heart of the city. The house is at walking distance to everything is worth visiting in the the city. In case, we can also provide bicycles, that is the best mode of transport to visit the city. Last but not least, Bologna is easily connected to the most popular tourist destinations in Italy: 30 minutes from Florence, 30 min. from Ferrara (UNESCO "World Heritage"); 1 hour from Milan, 1.30 hrs from Venice, 1.30 hour from Ravenna, 1 hr from the beaches of Rimini and Riviera Romagnola, 2 hrs from Rome. Not to mention many other wonderful cultural and artistic destinations of Emilia Romagna, many of them awarded by UNESCO as "World Heritage".
