Notre maison

We have completely renovated our 18th century farmhouse keeping the original features and putting in all mod cons. On the top of a hill it is very bright and sunny, has electric shutters against the summer sun and offers superb outdoor eating on the terrace overlooking the vineyards and enormous oak and chestnut woods. Alternatively you can eat under the willow trees by the pond in the large garden.
Downstairs there is a large lounge/dining room with open fireplace and sliding glass doors onto terrace. There is also a family meals area ajoining the fully equipped kitchen. Bathroom, laundry, separate toilet and office are all downstairs. Upstairs there are two large and two smaller bedrooms, bathroom and separate toilet. Our home has charmed many an australian visitor.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a Franco-Australian couple with one daughter. Sue has been teaching English here and Gilles has always worked for the national electricity company. We have been living in France for all our 15 years of marriage and now would like to see what it's like to live in Australia - a trial period before making a big decision. We have work and family in Adelaide and are therefore only interested in an exchange in Adelaide.

Situated 15 km from either Saintes or Cognac and 60 km from swimming and surfing beaches, the biggest zoo in France and 3 picturesque islands. The Charente river provides canoing, fishing and picnicing and runs 5km from the hamlet where our house has 2 delightful and quiet neighbours. The local swimming pool is solar heated and surrounded by lawns and only 5 minutes from the house. There are excellent restaurants, bed and brakfasts and hotel in the village 5 minutes away. Saintes and Cognac both offer cinema, theatre, art galleries, cafes, shops, river cruises and various tourist attractions especially throughout the summer when the Blues Music Festival visits Cognac, the Classical Music Festival is held in Saintes and every weekend has markets, brocantes, shows etc.
