Notre maison

Our villa was built a century ago but has been thoroughly renovated. It is located half-way between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël, just outside a village called Le Trayas. There are two bedrooms (sleeping 4), a shower room with a toilet, a living-room and a large veranda with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea, just across the road. The kitchen is fully equipped. Two more people can stay in a small self-contained studio that is attached to the villa, but independent from it. A friend of ours lives in another studio that is totally independent. There are several patios and a big Mediterranean garden. The view from the garden is gorgeous too, with the lovely Estérel Mountains. We have satellite television in the living-room.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My name's Michel. I'm a professor at the Sorbonne in Paris. My wife, Catherine, teaches English to undergraduates in a prep school. We have two daughters, Hélène (18) and Sophie (15). We all speak English. The villa at Le Trayas is our holiday home. Compared to other villas on the coast, such as those at Cap Ferrat or Cap d'Antibes, it's such a beautiful place! When we started going to Le Trayas, we had a soft spot for the veranda and the patio overlooking the sea, but we soon found out that the back garden was very nice too. Since there are several patios, and as the garden is quite big, we alternate vetween a blue view and a green view. We go to Le Trayas quite often. We'll be there for a month in the summer, but we have decided to go back to New York in late August. I'll spend a little time in Princeton where I have work to do. We love New York. Sophie has never been to New York yet. She is looking forward to meeting us there with her sister, aftee a three-week holiday at our friends' in Seattle.

The villa is located outside Le Trayas, in a clutch of 5 villas. It is an unspoiled area of outstanding beauty and this is why it has been carefully preserved by local authorities. Not a single house has been built in 50 years. The villa's neighbors are the Sea and the mountains. The sea is warm, up to 28c in August. There is a steep path leading to the sea just across the road, and about 300 meters east and west of the villa are two lovely pebble coves. The nearest sand beaches are 3 and 6 kms away. The Riviera train between Marseille and Ventimillia (Italy) runs quietly in a kind of "Canyon" between the back garden and the mountains. If you don't feel like cooking, there are two snack bars/restaurants, with very good food, one 25 meters from the villa, the other 300 ms. The region is steeped in history. American troops landed at Saint-Raphaël in 1944. You can walk or drive through the Estérel. 22 kilometers east of the villa is Cannes, which hosts an international film festival each year in May, Antibes (with its beautiful historic center and the Picasso Museum), further east, Nice, the capital of the region (international airport), Monaco, and then Italy. A few other musts: Saint-Paul de Vence, Mougin, The Fondation Maeght (modern art), the list is endless. There is a train station in Le Trayas (2 kms), bus stops within walking distance and taxis, but we advise you to rent a car. We'll be happy to let you use ours on certain conditions.
