Notre maison

It is a unique historical XVIth.-XVIIth. Century house in what is the most beautiful village in France, SAINT-CIRQ LAPOPIE.
Is is located in sunny SW of France, in the LOT region, only 27kms. from Cahors, and one hour and a half drive from Toulouse airport.
It is our family house, with antiques and beautiful furniture inside.
It has 4 floors, linked by a old staircase, which is a masterpiece. We spend most of the time on the upper floor, where the kitchen is, also 2 rooms, and especially because of the woodden balcony leading to the terrace. From both of these sites, one gets a breathtaking view over the village on the cliff and down the river Lot and the valley.
Next to the terrace, is the garden, which is on two levels.
Each room has a breathtaking view. Summer can be pretty hot, but one can bathe and enjoy boating or fishing in the river Lot.
We have a private garage for 2 cars. There is also a large garden of ours up the garage, overlooking the whole scenery.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am a French film maker, married to a Belgian choreographer.
We are in our mid-fourties and mid-thirties.
I have a PHD on Spanish Literature from the Paris Sorbonne and graduated in Film at the Madrid University.
Chantal lived 5 years in NYC, working at the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio.
We travel a lot for our work, especially New York, Germany and Spain.
We have a cat we love. She is very at ease in the house and in the garden (and in the neighbours' gardens, too!)
I was formerly a Homelink member, so I'm used to home exchanges and enjoy them. In fact, many of the Homelink exchangers became friends of ours.

The LOT is one of the blessed region of SW France, the Perigord, close to the Dordogne, in the middle of Aquitaine.
The whole village is protected, so it maintains its medieval charm and every house is a historical jewel, very well kept.
There are so many beautiful spots around, in the Quercy, it is difficult to describe each, but the Grottos of Pech-Merle (the largest in France, with prehistorical designs) are definitely a site to visit. It is just 10Kms. from Saint-Cirq Lapopie.
Cahors, the capital of the Lot, is a very lovely town, with lots of historical XVth.Century houses, and it's a rich shopping area, too.
The Perigord is famous for its gastronomy and for its wines, so there are plenty of good restaurants. And 40kms. from our village is Villefranche d'Aveyron, where there is a famous typical rural market every Sunday.
