Notre maison

Vaudou is a restored 19th century Farm-house with a terraced garden of an acre giving magnificent views over the valley. There are 3 double bedrooms and a 4th bedroom with 2 single beds, suitable for young people. The living room has 2 sofas and an arm-chair, and a large flat wall-mounted tv on which you can receive French and english language films. There is a large collection of CDs ranging from Bach to Bruce Springtein. The kitchen and dining area is large and well-equipped but in the summer we normally eat out on the terrace. There is a 11x5 metre swimming pool.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. My wife Marianne is French and owns a Pharmacy in the town Mussidan, 20 miles to the south. I am British and a retired IBM manager. We tend to spend all week here but we also have an appartment in Bordeaux. It is many, many years since I was in San Francisco but I am longing to go back.

This is the first time we have tried an exchange although I have rented Vaudou in the past.

Vaudou is situated in the valley of the river Dronne, reputed to be one of the most beautiful in France. It is one of 3 houses in a hamlet and is 1 mile from the nearest village. A car (ours?) is necessary. We are 20 miles from the elegant town of Périgueux, with its magnificent cathedral and renaissance centre and within similar range of the beautiful towns of Brantôme, Bourdeilles and Ribérac. Further afield there is Sarlat in the Dordogne valley with the fortresses of Beynac (French) and Castelnaud (English!) and many fine sights and sites (eg painted caves). Nearer there are tennis courts and canoes for hire. We have bikes and in nearby Montagrier you have a dozen circuits offering varying degrees of exhilaration. It should be mentioned that St Emilion (1 hour) and Bordeaux (2 hours) are also reachable and well worth a visit.
I have had this house for 30 years and I love it.
