“Dear Laurence, Olivier, Louis and Paul, Thank you very much for a great exchange. We stayed for two weeks in you lovely home in Quimper in July 2019. Brittany has surprised us in the most positive way with it’s old, picturesque towns and beautiful beaches. Quimper has a very cozy city center, centered around the old cathedral. We visited during the annual Cornouaille Festival and saw some traditional dancing and heard folk music in the streets. We also visited the art museum, the Breton Museum and the exhibition on embroidery. My daughters enjoyed shopping in the stores in town and in the Geant shopping mall. The stones at Carnac were fascinating and we took the small train around to see the area. On our way home, we stopped by Concarneau which has a beautiful old city center placed on an island in the harbor. We also went to Guivinec to watch the fishing boats come back from the sea. However, we just missed them (it was Friday and I guess they came home a bit early) and instead we walked around town to see the open air photo exhibition “The Man and the Sea”. The lighthouse Phare d’Eckmühl in Penmarch provided a beautiful view of the coast line. Due to the tide in Brittany, we were expecting the beaches to be covered in seaweed, mud and rocks. They were not like that at all! We especially loved the beach l’Ile Tudy which is a wide sandy beach with clear blue water – absolutely wonderful and great for kids. We also did a boat trip to the islands Les Glenans, called Europe’s Tahiti with good reason. At the surfer’s paradise La Torche we stayed out of the water and only watched the surfer’s as they rode the great waves. We also enjoyed just staying at home in your nice garden. We had breakfast and dinner most days in the garden. The kids loved riding the scooters around the house and playing basketball. We liked letting the chickens into the garden and watching them rummage around under the bushes (and in the salat in the vegetable garden – sorry!). We pretended to be truly French when we walked to the nearby bakery to pick up baguettes. The house was really clean and cozy and there was plenty of space for all of us. We stayed in good contact during the exchange and we appreciate all your recommendations and good advice along the way. When we returned, our house and especially our pets were greatly taken care of. Thank you for that. I highly recommend others to do an exchange with you. It has been an absolute pleasure. Best wishes for the future, Lotte and family ”
