Notre maison

Our small home is light and bright, cosy and cheerful, with lots of pictures, quilts and books. The living room, with adjoining kitchen, has two sofas, a Jotul wood burning stove and a large dining table. Also on this floor is a sunny lounge, small sewing room and roofed terrace, with decking. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, WC and small bathroom. Downstairs are 2 more bedrooms and, from 2007, bathroom with WC and shower. We have satellite TV which gives us access to many English speaking channels. Although there are neighbours, the house is very private, bordering on woodland with kms of walking trails. Behind the house is a vineyard. Deer and red squirrels are frequent visitors. Next to the house is my husband's woodworking workshop, an interesting place for visitors! Ours is a clean, comfortable little house where we've lived for 30 years and happily raised a family of 4. You'll find lots of books, English and French, and peace and quiet. We would be happy to discuss the possibilty of your using our car whilst you are here.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Sheila and Daniel, an English /French couple. I'm a retired teacher whilst Daniel is a cabinet maker. We have had over a dozen happy and successful house exchanges in the USA, Europe, Scandinavia and Australia. We have a low maintenance, mainly outdoor cat only needing feeding and if you wanted to go on trips, a friend could care for her. The same English friends could be on hand if you needed any help during your stay. We would be very happy to care for your pets and/or plants and we would look after your home as though it were our own.
We usually arrange simultaneous exchanges, but sometimes we can do a non-simultaneous. We're experienced exchangers and take pride in leaving exchange homes clean and tidy. We're also happy to do hospitality exchanges.
We answer all enquiries and look forward to hearing from you!

Our house is within easy walking distance of a small market town/village in the Lot valley, in south west France. Prayssac has lots of small shops, as well as a post office, cafes etc, open air swimming pool, even a small cinema and is a good base to explore all the delights of this very special region. There's an exceptionally good weekly farmers' market as well as two supermarkets.
The Lot valley is a region where the sun shines brightly, an area steeped in history, with breathtaking views all along the valley, and is one of the most beautiful unspoilt regions of France. Prayssac is just a few kilometres south east of the Dordogne, so within very easy driving distance.
Although this is a very rural region, there is plenty to do, especially if you like walking, canoeing, swimming, cycling or other outdoor activities. During the summer and autumn there are music festivals and markets in many of the local villages.Good weather is guaranteed in the summer and both spring and autumn are very pleasant. September is one of our loveliest months, busy with the grape harvest. Even in the summer, the region is never crowded, and neither are the roads! The historic town of Cahors is 30 minutes away, and gives its name to the famous local wine. We are ideally located to explore this beautiful region, by car, bus or train. From Prayssac, you can catch the bus to Cahors, then take a train to Paris,Toulouse etc. Toulouse is just over an hour away, by car or train and the Dordogne valley with its caves and prehistoric sites is about a 30 minutes drive. Bordeaux and the Atlantic coast are 4 hours away, as is Spain and the Mediterranean. The region is renowned for its gastronomy. A useful website (lots of pictures and it's in English) is
