Notre maison

Originally there were two smallish 2-bedroom apartments which I joined into one: I tore down most partitions and the main dividing wall to make one big, loft-style apartment. It is located on the top floor of a 19th century brickstone building, with double East-West exposure and therefore sunlit all day. The main living area is one large space with a sliding Japanese-style partition to convert into bedroom (large double bed with drawers underneath). My boys have their separate bedroom with bunk beds and their own shower room, I have a bathroom with a proper tub. The kitchen is semi-open and is equipped with all modern amenities (including a Nespresso machine). There are 2 separate toilets, fireplaces in working order (although summer maybe not the best time to use them). We all have Mac computers. The place was decorated with care, with a touch of zen.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I work in Paris as a free-lance conference interpreter, I have two tall and talented boys (13 and 15) who are constantly upgrading their web site (www.lesimbuvables.com) and working on comedy movie projects where I play several parts. The boys and myself are dual French-American citizens (my father's family being American) and we were thinking of visiting my uncle (a particle physicist at Carnegie Mellon) this summer and combining the visit with a couple of weeks in New York City. The boy's mother, Veronique who works as an education consultant, will join us. This is our first attempt at house-swapping (if that's the right phrase).

Véronique has another apartment of her own located near the Arc de Triomphe: this will also be available in July if you are interested. It is bigger than mine, the bedrooms are completely separate from the living room, it has a balcony, the boys have a huge room with en-suite bathroom and view on courtyard garden.

We are very conveniently located in the 14th arrondissement near Denfert-Rochereau, with easy access to airports & main train stations, and within walking distance to the Luxembourg gardens & Montparnasse area. You will also find plenty of shopping, movies etc. on avenue General Leclerc as well as the famed rue Daguerre open market every day of the week (except Mondays) plus several large farmers' markets nearby 3 days a week (including Sundays). The metro station (Saint-Jacques) is literally round the block. Distances are short in Paris and you don't need a car, but you will appreciate this charming neighborhood, so quiet and yet so close to the buzzing life of the city.
