Notre maison

From the terrace we have a beautiful view of a small valley and hills in the distance. Our half an-acre-or-so-yard is terraced with four levels, which is typical of the area. The birds enjoy our fruit trees and the squirrels our hazelnut trees. We have a cat and three baby tortoises.

Our 3-storey-house is twelve years old: the living area is two stories, the bottom level is a garage. Access to the front door is up a flight of stairs. The kitchen can sit 6 people but most of the time we eat out on the terrace.
There's a large open fireplace in the living room as well as a piano. Three floor to ceiling glass doors go to the garden and terrace and so does the door in the Master bedroom. We use the second bedroom as a music room where we keep a xylophone.
Upstairs is our son's bedroom : there's a platform bed, six feet off the ground that can sleep two people, a guest-room and a big bedroom which we use as our office.
nb: Our house is not child-proof but rather fitted for teenagers.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a French-American couple with a well-travelled 14-year old son (15 in summer 2007). My husband James is a software engineer and works from home for a Silicon Valley company. I, Nathalie, teach English to Junior High School kids in Grasse. James, Jr. Attends the International School of Sophia-Antipolis (the local Silicon Valley) where he studies English and Russian.

The three of us enjoy travelling around the world to go and visit our relatives and friends. We love meeting new people as well and finding out about their cultures. We love history and historic places, as well as outdoor activities.

Since I'm a teacher, I can only travel during the French school holidays.

Grasse, the "world capital of perfume", is a town with an old central area, surrounded by about ten neighborhoods, that used to be independent villages. We live in the quiet residential St-Jacques district, on a hillside, in a rather large - for French standards but not Riviera standards - modern home.

Our house is about a 10-minute walk from the grocery store and less than 30 minutes from the beach in Cannes or Mandelieu, 30 minutes from the Nice airport, and an hour to the mountains.

The whole of Southern France is gorgeous and Grasse is one of the highlights of the region.
