Notre maison

Just outside the pretty coastal village of GOUVILLE SUR MER, 'La Brocanterie' is a beautifully restored stone-built house, open and light with all modern comforts. Decorated in 'clean rustic' style with brocante objects and furniture, the house has lovely rooms in which to relax and entertain with ample space for 8 people ; a large sunny sitting room opening onto the courtyard, a dining room with fireplace and a cathedral ceiling kitchen-conservatory (fully equipped for enthusiastic cooks) with a family dining area under a glass roof. The doors fold open fully onto the landscaped pool and deck area. There is a second sitting room with internet connection, books and games.Off the kitchen is the utility room with WC. The 4 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms are spread over 3 floors (2 en suite), One bedroom & en suite is on the ground floor. The flat sandy beach is about 5 minutes' drive. It's a bike ride to the village for bakeries, supermarket, shops & market.

THE POOL & DECK AREA: THE POOL IS AVAILABLE FROM MID MAY to END SEPTEMBER . The pool is 10m by 4.5 m and 1m 40 deep throughout. It is is treated with a UV light system to provide an excellent untainted quality of water. The wooden decking area is about 80m² and surrounds the pool on 3 sides. There is no garden at this property - the absence of grass helps keeps the pool water clean. We are very sorry but dogs are not permitted at this property.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are James and Debbie Mayhew and have 2 daughters, Emily (20) and Grace (16) We have been living in France for over 20 years and love it here by the coast of Normandy. James and I are property renovators and also rent out houses for holiday lets. We have done 4 home exchanges, though many years ago, and they were all a huge success. (St Lucia, Colorado, Morzine and Dataw Island). We love holidaying with family as we are spread out all over the world and it gives us a chance to have fun and see each other. I am looking for a home exchange in New Zealand, near Mission Bay if possible. The home we are offering for exchange is a rental property and is unavailable to swap from mid June to mid September. May and late September would be ideal times to come and the weather is usually lovely during those months.

Localisation

Quartier

Gouville-sur-mer is situated on the west coast of the Normandy peninsular. About an hour from Cherbourg and 1hr 30 from Caen, it's easy to reach from England. Paris is 3hrs 30 and there is a train station 15 minutes from the house. Well placed for cultural outings such as Mont St Michel, the Normandy Landings, The Bayeux Tapestry and so many activities and sports on offer; golf (10 mins), karting, horse riding on the beach, kite surfing and much more. Gouville has a weekly market (twice in July/August) bakeries, butcher, supermarket etc. The beautiful local beach, flat and sandy, is only 5 minutes drive from the house. Agon Coutainville (10 mins) has more restaurants. Coutances (10 min) has an annual May jazz festival. The pretty port of Granville (40 min. south) offers chic shopping and the Christian Dior museum. Picturesque port Barneville-Carteret (40 min) has a Michelin rosette restaurant and trips to Jersey. Our part of the coast is a particularly welcoming area of Normandy; child friendly with plenty to see and do for all ages.
