Notre maison

Our house is a large family home, over 300 years old, with four double bedrooms, plus office where we could put another single bed, three bathrooms. On the ground floor are two living rooms with vaulted ceilings, a fitted kitchen and gorgeous two storey high dining room, giving onto the back courtyard. It is on three storeys, with a quiet paved courtyard in the back, good for al fresco dinners, and a courtyard in front with parking for three cars at least. We could arrange to leave you one if required. There is an automatic electronic door on the driveway, so very secure (though not really necessary in this sleepy little village). We are very near the sea, Aigues Mortes, Nimes, Arles, Avignon is a 45 min drive away.
We have an ironer and a part time cleaner, but more can be arranged (or less) depending on your requirements.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am the English mother, Hilary, and have a French husband Alain, and two daughters, Kate-Charlotte and Caroline who are 15 and 17. We used to live in Paris (where I used to work for the OECD) and moved down to our country house to live as we felt it was a better place to bring up our children - they can ride their bikes and walk around without being run over by out-of-control cars, or molested by strangers! You feel very safe in this village, it is like going back 100 years in time. People here take the time to stop and say hello and come and see you if you are ill (when I broke my leg the butcher came and delivered the meat in person!) We have two brittany spaniels, who will be boarded out in kennels while you are here, but just to say it is a dog friendly household. The plants in the courtyard just need to be watered occasionally, but if you don't feel like it my neighbour and cleaner will do it for you. I know you will have a wonderful time here in this village and will leave you a list of friendly english speakers who will be more than willing to help out. I have created a house manual with most of the information you might require.

This village is wonderful, full of French characters, and a couple of British families (retired diplomats mainly). There is a sense of tradition and the local fete (bulls and outdoor dances) takes place during a week in August. It is high on a hill overlooking field of black bulls and white horses, surrounded by the garrigue(wonderful for hiking/walking etc). We have five golfcourses within easy driving time, the beaches are only 20 to 30 minutes away, with a couple of three star Michelin restaurants close by. If you like wine we have our local producer in Aubais who is open for tasing and "tapas" in the evening, with marvellous floodlit views of our local Chateau. Life here is relaxed and friendly, with good food and good wine in abundance.
