Notre maison

We propose a 1890 city house which was a Charcuterie (pork butcher shop) till 1965 with the original decoration of the shop (1910’s) in the dining room. The kitchen aside of the shop is looking into the street and the living room opens on a terrace over the garden on the back side. On the first floor there are two rooms, an office and the bathroom. In the cellar our teenager has his room, an ex-music studio looking into the garden.
Our phone contract allows free calls to the States. High speed internet installed with WIFI all over the house and garden.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. Violaine and I got married recently. She is a journalist, author of several books. Now at Psychologies Magazine (which has a sister publication in England, Spain and Italy) she is among other things responsible for books, both literature and essays. Readers are welcome in our library (that part mostly in French). I am a historian, specialized in Eastern Central Europe (with a special focus on Hungary in the 20th Century). Junior professor in Nancy I mostly work at home.
Formerly Violaine was a reporter, often special correspondent in far away countries. She became fond of traveling. Being half American and quite interested in languages and intercultural communication, we enjoy experiencing together journeys and (distant) places.

Immediate neighborhood is Alfortville, a small suburban town S-E of Paris. The center of town is nearby (five minutes walk, with all the needed shops) and for bread there is a boulangerie 100 yards away. The house is calm and the garden is very calm because our neighbors have their own gardens further away.
Within 4 minutes you can get onto a RER train at Maisons Alfort-Alfortville. This station is the first out of Paris on the D line. So to get into the center of Paris (Châtelet les Halles) it takes 11 minutes with trains every 7 minutes at peak hours, and every quarter of an hour in the middle of the day. Trains run till after midnight and if a taxi ride is needed, the House is less.
