Notre maison

We have a lovely, light top-floor corner apartment (featured in a home-interiors magazine) on a cobbled tree-lined street in one of Copenhagen's best areas, Osterbro. The flat is extremely quiet and graceful. There's a formal dining room and an "eat-in" kitchen, recently redone, and a large living room (cable TV, wireless and wired broadband). One bedroom has a sleeping loft that's great for children, so it actually sleeps 7. We also have a typical Danish summerhouse in Liseleje on the North Coast, about an hour's drive away. It's small but sleeps 7 all the same, and is a ten-minute walk through woods to a beautiful beach; we can swap with either the city apartment or the beachhouse, or both at once!

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We're a small family of 3: my Danish wife was a weaver, and now runs a museum shop; I'm an American writer of documentary films, books, and magazine articles (see my website); our Danish-American daughter is 10 years old, as of yet unemployed. We don't smoke and we are excellent, considerate guests who have house-sat on many occasions. We love to travel -- you can sample my travel articles for the NY Times and Travel & Leisure on my website.

This is certainly one of Copenhagen's best and most fashionable areas, with plenty of shopping, terrific restaurants, and parks within walking distance. Our street runs right into the chain of lakes that curve over the center of the city. It's a 15 minute walk to the Little Mermaid, another five to the queen's palace, and from there just a five-minute stroll to Nyhavn with its picturesque outdoor bars and pastel-colored houses. The park called Kastellet (moats, bastions overlooking the sea, windmill, herons at gaze, and all) is also 10 minutes from here. Don't have to say it is all very safe: this is Denmark.
