Notre maison

Built in 2008 our beautiful, comfortable 2 story beach house overlooks a secluded Pacific Ocean beach and is nestled in a natural setting with abundant wildlife: howler monkeys, iguanas, birds, sea turtles, etc. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs, each with its own bathroom. Upstairs we have the master bedroom with a king bed, a second large bedroom with 3 individual beds (a 4th bed can be set up), and a comfortable balcony area. The downstairs bedroom is smaller, for 2 (twin beds). The kitchen and social area are downstairs where we also have a comfortable dining and deck area.

Guanacaste is hot and sunny, especially in March and April, but we have a sea breeze and all rooms have ceiling fans. There is no a/c. We have a TV for viewing movies. There is no direct cable or internet connection but we have not found this to be a problem since internet connectivity is available through a smart phone tethering (hot spot) feature. So make sure you have smartphone capability for downloading, by prearranging international coverage on your phone or purchasing a local chip. Costa Rica is covered by ICE Kolbi, Movistar, and Claro. Movistar seems to have the best coverage in our area.

The house has an outside barbecue and 2 mountain bicycles. We also have some snorkeling gear available and several hammocks.

You need a rental car to get in and to visit different beach areas. A 4x4 is strongly recommended. We have a covered parking area for 2 vehicles, and there is room for several more. Tip: if you land in Liberia or San Jose and have a reservation for a rental car, keep close communication with the rental agency since if your flight is delayed they may give your car to someone else.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. I am Alvaro. My wife Anabelle and I thoroughly enjoy our place in the Guanacaste sun, visiting our beach house every month for the past 8 years (we are 4 hours by car from San Jose). We love the slow pace, tranquility, and natural setting, where we can truly relax and enjoy life.

We are golden aged and semi-retired, with 3 adult children. We would like to invite our adult children with us on our exchange, if they can arrange this within their busy lives. We have set the second half of June as our target dates for our 2017 visit.

We prefer a non-simultaneous exchange so we can welcome you and provide some help with provisioning and tips for enjoyment of the area. Since we are in the tropics, any time of year is fine for your visit. The wet, green season starts in May and goes through December. October is the wettest month. The dry season is from January to April, with March and April the hottest months. It never gets cold in Guanacaste.

We invite you to experience our place, nicknamed El Pelicano Perezoso (The Lazy Pelican), and have some wine or cocktails as you enjoy the sunset over the Pacific. Nothing could be finer.

Localisation

Quartier

We are located in Guanacaste province away but not far from the bustle of the Gold Coast (Flamingo, Conchal, Tamarindo beach areas). These areas have many hotels, condos, supermarkets, restaurants, and night life so if this is what you look for in your vacation, you best find a place in this area. But if you are looking for tranquility, a close to nature experience, our place is for you but be aware that you are within striking distance of Tamarindo for a day trip or provisioning, and indeed we recommend a visit to Conchal Beach, one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica.

We are located down the coast in a more natural, quiet setting where there is more wildlife. There are a few restaurants nearby but you will need provisions for drinks and preparing breakfast and some other meals. It would be easier if these are secured in Tamarindo or Santa Cruz on your way in.

Our home is walking distance to Marbella beach, one of Costa Rica´s premier surf beaches, and we are just up the road, about 16 km, from Ostional Beach. This beach is one of nature´s miracles where sea turtles arrive year round for nesting, and several times a year in massive numbers of up to 500,000 over several nights. Several other beach areas are located a few kilometers further south: Nosara, Guiones, Sámara. These are all nice areas to visit, featuring several restaurants in the vicinity. There is a small medical clinic in Nosara in case of emergency.

There are also zip line adventure tours available and places to rent quad cycles. Horseback riding is a possibility and there are many fine areas for snorkeling (everywhere). Scuba diving and boat rentals for fishing can also be arranged out of the Flamingo marina area, 45 minutes away. If you are interested in these outside activities you should search the internet to prearrange before arrival to make sure of availability.
