En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Harvey, Maricella and Daniela. Harvey, originally from California, wrote the first guidebook to Costa Rica, over 20 years ago, and has been here ever since. Maricella is Costa Rican, and 13-year old daughter Daniela is a true gringa-Tica, a cultural mix. Harvey and Maricella both work in real estate investment, an occupation that is almost unavoidable for international people living here. Harvey started Surfer magazine in the 1950s, and after doing the guidebook for Insight Guide in the late 1980s, started and ran two B and Bs. When asked, "Why Costa Rica, of all the places in the world?" Harvey has never been able to come up with a completely satisfactory answer, and just smiles.

Located in Escazu, which is 15 minutes outside of Costa Rica's only city, San Jose. Here there is Central America's largest mall, hospital, movie theaters, concerts, museums, hundreds of restaurants, and more amenities than one could want. Driving to the Pacific coast takes around 45 minutes on the new connecting highway. (Note that Escazu/San Jose is almost a mile in elevation, so the temperature is always very moderate, year around, 24 hours a day, unlike the very humid and tropical coast.) From here one can explore mountains, volcanoes, highland tropical forests, lowland jungles, go white water rafting, canopy zip-lining, during the day and be back in time for a dinner and movie or club, at any number of Costa Rica's best venues.
