Notre maison

Our home is a 100 years old traditional Antwerp house - old & modern at the same time, comfortable and spacious with many of the original features still intact. Downstairs there's a living room and a large, new kitchen with adjoining dining room with folding doors to the back yard. On the first floor there's a bedroom (double bed), a bathroom and a study. On the second floor there are two more rooms, each with a double bed.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We, Ivon (55, communications specialist working @Nike) and Tony (56, hr-manager/recruiter) love travelling and we rather mix with local people than stay in a place with only tourists, so for us home-exchange is an excellent way to discover a country, it's people and culture. We did our 1st house swap Summer 2006 (Marseille, France), followed by California, Paris, the French Var-region (about their Antwerp experience: 'Vous savez quoi? La Belgique m'a tellement plu que j'organise un voyage à Bruxelles, Anvers et Bruges avec mes élèves en avril!'), Bretagne, Metz, Amsterdam, Italy/Tuscany, Copenhagen etc. Tony is really into music - he never gets tired of looking through cd's or albums in little tiny stores or on e-bay to find that one special album. Ivon loves everything that has to do with colors or graphic arts and takes drawing lessons at the local academy of fine arts. We all like to go walking/biking or explore new cities, museums,.... so surprise us with your suggestions!
PS: We have a cat: Poema - she's really sweet, funny and wellbehaved and she'd be very grateful if you could take care of her...

We live in a nice and quiet neighbourhood in the city center where people still say 'hello' to each other. Antwerp itself is a very nice city (as Time Magazine recently wrote: one of the hottest cities of the moment, and last October Lonely Planet has added Antwerp to its list of top 10 most interesting cities in the world) with nice museums, architecture and special shops, very good restaurants and with lots of special summer activities (summer of Antwerp festival - free films almost every night next to the Schelde-river - see: www.zva.be or www.antwerp.be). And when you're tired of seeing 'bricks', it's only a 15 minutes walk from our home to the wellknown Middelheim Park. Antwerp also is an ideal starting point to visit Brussels (30 minutes bij car/train), the historical city of Brughes (1 hour) or the Belgian beaches (1 hour). Even Amsterdam (1,5 / 2 hours by car/train), London (2,5 hours by train, Eurostar), Paris (2,5 hours by train) are within reach.
