Notre maison

Our home is a part of a residential hotel complex and has all the desired amenities. We have a very modern spacious apartment on the beach front, and we are the first occupants. We have lived here for 3 years and so everything is in very good order. Because we live in Australia, security is not a big issue, but the building has good security and onsite management who can help with any issues where assistance is needed.

A building accommodating approximately 100 apartments with two lifts, Mon Komo, our apartment building is very centrally located and is close to shops, restaurants, the beach-side lagoon and within walking distance to many local facilities. It has an indoor heated swimming pool, a small gym, efficient lifts and lovely views across Moreton Bay to the bay islands and main shipping channel.

The apartment has three bedrooms, but we use one as an office. The two dedicated bedrooms have queen-sized beds and the office can accommodate a queen-sized blow up bed for another two people. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and the second bedroom has a virtual ensuite which is shared with the occupants of the office. All bedrooms and living rooms have TV and reverse cycle air-conditioning, which we rarely use because we are in such close proximity to the beach and sea breezes.

The balcony overlooking Moreton Bay on one side and Deception Bay and the Glasshouse Mountains on the other, is a lovely spot to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, read a book or watch the constantly passing shipping, prawning boats and sailing boats through a telescope bought specifically for that purpose. (The sailing boats are close enough that you do not need the telescope).

  1. We are a retired couple who have done quite a bit of traveling in Europe, the UK, Scandinavia and USA/Canada. We enjoy comfortable surroundings and have tried to make our house practical but attractive and appealing to visitors. We enjoy dining out and entertaining friends at home. He cooks and plays bridge, she sews, crochets and works voluntarily for ex-servicewomen organizations (we are both ex-Navy).

    We have a cat, Schatzie - a chocolate point Burman, who would be in residence with any visitors, and we would need them to take care of the him, which is fairly easy to do. He likes company, but mostly pretends he doesn't.

Within our two-tower complex, there is a residential tower and a hotel tower. We live in the residences and the hotel tower accommodates short stay accommodation, with bars, restaurant and function rooms.

Across the road is a major supermarket, Post Office, shops, and within walking distance are the local library, cultural centre, a handful of hotels and bars, restaurants of various cuisine and the local ex-service club.

Also across the road are the waters of beautiful Moreton Bay. On its shores the local city council has installed a salt-water lagoon and children's playground, but Redcliffe is home to family friendly beaches with lovely golden sand and great picnic and BBQ amenities along its foreshore. An extensive pedestrian/bicycle path encircles the entire city to enable nice bike rides or beachside walks, taking in the beautiful views across the Bay.

Every Sunday the street markets are within a three minute walk and we can access the walking/bicycle path which encompasses the whole peninsula on which we live by walking across the road.

It is not difficult to access whale-watching cruises and views of various water sports.

The city of Redcliffe is adjacent to Brisbane (40 minute drive), Queensland's State capital and Australia's third largest city. Our home is ideally located as a touring base for the local area and for further afield as we are only 30 minutes from Brisbane Domestic/International Airport, 45 minutes from Brisbane CBD, and mid way between the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast - both major tourist areas with great surf beaches.

The lovely sub-tropical city of Brisbane is a 30-40 minutes drive or train ride. A bus outside or door connects to the train station where you can catch a train directly into the city. There are many interesting things to see and do in Brisbane - theatres, museums, galleries, ferry rides on the Brisbane River and good shopping.
