En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are Ray and Christine, married for 43 years with 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren.

We are very fortunate to be able to divide our time between Mt Victoria and our home at Allambie Heights on Sydney's Northern Beaches. In Sydney we have our 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren, many friends, the beaches and all that Sydney has to offer; in Mt Victoria we have a very different climate, our bushwalks, various activities and our mountain-top community. Hence, it would be possible to arrange an exchange using BOTH our houses offering you both the mountains and the beach.

Christine is a retired teacher (but still doing some teaching of English to international students. She has taught mainly secondary students and adults. She has always had a passion for languages and travel - especially to Europe. She has been enjoying classical piano again after a break of some years.

Ray has a long background in both government/private employment areas and is recently retired. He is a tireless 'doer' - always tending to odd jobs around the home. He also has a real sense of fun, loves a joke and enjoys watching comedy on TV. He rides his bike most days but is certainly not in 'Le Tour de France' category!!

We are keen walkers/trekkers and have some adventurous walks in Australia, Germany, France and looking forward to more whilst we are still young and fit enough to do so.

We love meeting people. We love entertaining. We love travelling and discovering new places. We have discovered many beautiful areas both in Australia and around the world but we are always happy to return to the rugged beauty of the Blue Mountains world heritage area and the natural wonders of Sydney's northern beaches.

The Blue Mountains National Park is close to our doorstep. Many native birds can be seen from our deck; wallabies are often seen feeding in our backyard or bounding up the avenue; many wonderful walks, scenery are found nearby.

The house is in the historic village of Mt Victoria with its famous Mt Vic Flicks (cinema), historic pub, museum, cafes, antique shop. Blackheath village with its interesting shops, cafes, restaurants is 6 minutes by car or train.

The world-famous Three Sisters and Scenic World in Katoomba are 15 minutes away by car with the village of Leura - a shoppers' paradise - 20 minutes away by car/train.

Jenolan Caves, a truly spectacular, ancient Australian site, is a little over 1 hour by car or tourist bus.

If you drive west 1 hour you will find the city of Bathurst, a prosperous rural city with a university and wonderful countryside. The towns of Orange, Parkes, Dubbo are further west and really worth visiting to experience true Australian prosperous country areas. Many wineries can be found in this area.
The very popular Western Plains Zoo is at Dubbo (3 hours by car; a little more by train).
