Notre maison

Our home is a modern, three level townhouse a block from Hobart's waterfront and the CBD, built behind the historic facade of the city's original tramway terminus.
The living room and kitchen are on the middle level, with the dining area leading onto a spacious, sunny, NE facing terrace. On the third level the sun streams into the bathroom, second bedroom with trundle bed, and also filters into the large main bedroom with queen bed. The entrance on the ground floor, through a walled courtyard, leads to a study/office, laundry, garage and second bathroom. Parking may be available if requested before arrival.
The carpeted staircase, open on the upper levels, dominates the apartment and creates a roomy, industrial feel. The living room with large television, bookshelves, and computer corner with broadband internet access overlooks a very quiet, leafy, urban street.
The apartment is well insulated and noiseless. Reverse cycle air conditioning keeps it cosy in winter and cool in summer. Our house provides comfortable, elegant, cosmopolitan living.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We are a retired and semi-retired couple, Carol and Tony. Tony was formerly in IT and I was involved with academic research, but am now a freelance writer. We are happy to exchange our home with single visitors, couples, or small families. We've had many successful exchanges both locally and overseas. We are always interested in inner Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and exchanging in California, Italy and Greece for 2020. Non-simultaneous is possible.

Tasmania is Australia's only island state and is renowned for its clean air and water, unique wildlife, wilderness areas and relaxed lifestyle. Hobart has first class cafes and restaurants, while historic Salamanca Place is a popular area for shopping and browsing fine art galleries. The historic area of the docks, as well as the Queen's Domain and Aquatic Centre, are close to our home. The city centre a few minutes walk away has a large supermarket, department stores, specialty shops and fashion boutiques.
In summer, the annual Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race and the Taste of Tasmania food and wine festival take place on the waterfront and it is the starting point for tours to Bruny Island, Peppermint Bay, Port Arthur penitentiary and the ferry to the world class and innovative Museum of Old and New Art (MONA).
In winter the Antarctic Mid-winter Festival, the Festival of Voices and Dark MOFO provide plenty to celebrate in the crisp weather. The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the Botanic Gardens and the Theatre Royal (the oldest theatre in Australia) are also in the vicinity of our house. The Hedberg, a new creative and performing arts space under construction next door to the Theatre, will be completed in 2019 and transform the immediate neighbourhood.
Further afield, Mt Wellington provides opportunities for bush walking and mountain biking, while the Huon Valley, East coast and Tasman Peninsula have vineyards, surfing, fishing, diving and spectacular landscapes to explore. Our home provides an ideal base to see everything Hobart and southern Tasmania has to offer.
