Notre maison

Drive through fields of cane and tropical forest, up a steep driveway, and nestled in it’s own 3 ½ acres of forest in a secret garden of palm trees, brilliant bougainvillea, hibiscus, and other colourful plants which surround a free form pool, is the Tree House, a unique little hideaway and truly one of a kind. Upstairs is an open plan livingroom and kitchen with cathedral ceilings, polished wooden floors, and glass louvers and balconies nearly all the way round which look out onto the garden and forest and a bird bath up in the tree. A few steps up from the livingroom is the master bedroom with its own separate balcony & ensuite bathroom. Downstairs is the guest bedroom with glass doors onto the terrace, a bathroom, and a study, all with slate floors. The laudry is downstairs too and there's an undercover area with pool table & dart board.

En savoir plus sur nous

  1. We retired in May and have just done our first house swap in Edinburgh and are looking forward to doing a lot more overseas traveling in the next few years. Rob is a civil engineer (born in Scotland, raised in S.Africa) and Sally (born & raised in S.Africa) is a teacher of the deaf who both had a “sea change” 10 years ago and bought Management Rights to run holiday apartments and a tour desk. We have a 29 year old son in Amsterdam and a 26 year old son who’s in Mexico until April 2007. We love to travel, go boating, snorkeling and fishing, walking, reading, cooking and eating out at restaurants. Sally loves the theatre and history, Robs more into watching sport and plays golf, but doesn’t mind going to a few shows. They’ve been married for 37 years

Our home is situated a scenic 45 minutes drive north of Cairns and is only a 15 min drive to historic Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland, where boats leave daily from the picturesque marina for trips to the Great Barrier Reef and Low Isles. The well known palm fringed Four Mile Beach is located in Port Douglas too. The World Heritage Daintree National Park (the oldest rainforest in the world) and Cape Tribulation are a couple of hours north, and the beautiful Mossman Gorge where you can do a rainforest walk and swim in a large rainforest pool is only ½ hour north. You can do a trip on the famous Skyrail to Kuranda, visit a crocodile farm, wildlife park, go bird watching, fishing, ballooning, rafting, horse riding, play golf & tennis, and eat at the world class restaurants in Port Douglas, which has good shopping too and an excellent Sunday market. Another option is to drive up to the Tablelands for a day or stay overnight at one of the unique 4-5 star B & B cottages and pole homes and visit the crater lakes, waterfalls, coffee plantations, tropical fruit wineries, and cheese factories. All this is available if you can bear to tear yourself away from relaxing at the Tree House
